• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

this should make life a little easier on my old back, esp with scooter tires, there's a TON of them around here now. had a Mckay carb cleaner min-drum bout 3 foot high or so i used for a long time. served well too. cept i kept dropping stuff in it.
now when i drop stuff it'll land on my toe instead! :applause:

also ordered today some of Zip-Ty Racing's 10" spoons. Tinken says they are the good kind. so i got em! :D

is it wrong to be so excited about this stuff??? :p giggity!

whats in yer paddock?

You folks have all the fancy stuff. Probably just me but the shop I worked in had a Coats 220 and liked it for road bike tires, a really nice piece of equipment, but still preferred to spoon knobbies and trials tires.
Here is my low budget version of MR Dukes fancy set up that attaches to my low budget Harbor Freight motorcycle lifts with two carriage bolts and wing nuts:

yer photo is NG man! my fancy set up? bud im so caveman it aitn funny.

this stand is kinda neat. pull the center axle, plop a wheel up on it, replace and lock the axle, then snug the top nut. start flippin levers. i think im gona like it!

did i mention it'll do scooter wheels!?

and i aint gota go fish for the stem cores in the bucket anymore! psssht-crap! where'd it go...

braaap!

I have a Mikes stand which is the same as the Moose stand, but it comes with the clear tubing over the rim rings. They are the poop.

BTW- If you don't want to scratch your rims, get some Stubby tools. They are plastic and won't hurt the rim and I'm not sure if the guys at Stubby know this, but you can use them like a Breezer tire removal tool. Do you remember the Breezer?

I need to do a vid on how this works. If you saw it you'd be sold.

not familiar with the breezer tool MH. what is that?

yeh. i need new rim guards for the colored wheels got a cycle gear down the street no biggie there. going tonight to get some 5/8" poly tubing for the hoops. the spokes get better bite on that etc.

i havent tired this stand yet but it has to better than my bucket/barrel thingy....if not? ebay! i agree it sure was a cheaply made POS when i pulled it from the box. im pretty low tech but if it holds the wheel still i'll be super happy and its portable. gona replace the quick pins with bolts. the ad photo showed bolts in the legs so i was suprised when it had the pins when i unpacked it, i picked this one over the MSR one based on same. and if it dont work out...it'll gime and excuse to go see DD and use her coats machine...liked the look of the motion pro one but it was too small and not sure if i could do scooter wheels on it.

did i mention mine'll do scooter wheels???? i was doing those on the floor. it wasnt too hard but its like skinning a donut. bah! hehehe.

The Stubby tire tools are definitely something I want to buy before I swap out the tires on my black WR rims! I think I have a Breezer laying around the garage somewhere near the tire changer.

I like your stand, way cooler than my "tire wheel". And yeah it eats tire spoons.. so I usually have an extra or two ready to grab.:)

I wanted to get a Mikes, but couldn't figure out how to place the order. Tried email and phone off and on for several weeks.
I don't recall the Breezer, would be cool to see.

I have had good luck preserving my black rims with the Motion Pro protectors but need to check the stubby tools out.

ah...looked up the breezer and did some reading on it...looks like a stubby? this guy was all involved. lubes and stuff. and a hammer? i had that same drum!

tirefix3.jpg

i dont lube knobbies. maybe some spit if im in a pinch. i want the tire to bond to that bead and stay stuck no matter how wet it gets. powder the tube, install the tire. done. foamies i use c-clamps etc...those are kind of a bear sometimes.

Xcuvator, your tire changer is genius. Love it. Put it on a post and it would be just like what I have.

Yes pvduke, that's a breezer. Problem with the Breezer was that it was aluminum. The stubby tools are made the same way, so you can actually flip one over after you get a section of the bead over the rim, hit it with a hammer, like the breezer, and get the rest of the bead off. Cool ting is it won't scratch the rim like a Breezer would. Great for the black rims.

Then I use that tire tool we got in the group buy from Estonia and put the on. Simple, easy and scratch free.

I am going to have to do a video. I bought one of those crazy tools for installing when I did the group buy. I have changed my routine to put the tube int he tire and install it all together with the tool and it is amazing how quick and EZ I can change a hard to install 19" rear tire. A few techniques and process understandings and putting tires on is fun and EZ. I just do mine on the bench, no tire stand. Tool never touches rim so no marring black rims up no protection needed.

this...

liberal use of WD40 and I get it all mounted from one side in minutes and zero struggle. Love it.

Super EZ and no messing with the tube. Love it.

them MP guards are the ticket! fer black rims i use those and the compound bend tool. works a treat for me. no hammers n lubes etc here. looking forward to trying Zip Ty's tire tools too.

stil think that rim is genius. why the hell didnt i think of that! :banghead: ...i know i know cuz im not a .....genius.  :p
