  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Throttle cable or carb?

Had a strange thing just happen. Throttle cable acts normal. But when starting bike it immediately goes wide open. Its like huh? Is there something in the carb going goofy or something with cable?

Can you hear the throttle block in the CARB slamming shut when you twist and release the throttle?

IF the cable, slide moves normally you probably have an AIR LEAK somewhere, or its not getting enough gas so I'd check these>(low on gas, kinked gas line, clogged petcock, too low float height, clogged jet). Can't think of anything else it might be.

Yes i can hear throttle slide do its normal "thunk" when bikes not running. But when running it goes full open. I did however have to do trailside repair of some clogged dirt in it one ride ago. BUT it was fine right after that. Till now.

Probably that stuff ColemanApp was asking about ... A good CARB cleaning might be the fix if all else looks OK on the bike ...

I canlook at that but I am curious about is when bike was running I remember now that throttle tube wouldnt move. It would phisically be unmovable and wide open. Confuses me.

You're gonna have to take that tube off also and investigate .. :)

might get the throttle cable kinked by the tank placement? I once had some quick half throttle actoin on left turns when that tank deal happened, scary.
Then there was the faulty pop start on the driveway incident when barkbusters and throttle grip were rubbing causing sticky throttle.

Jeez i wonder if thats it. I bought a new bolt for the ims tank cus i was so sick of it coming loose because the bolt barely reaches the frame. I cranked the bolt down this time too.
