  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Thread Title...2012 te449 hard starting

taylor te449

Husqvarna
i have a new 2012 te449 and it starts good when cold but as soon as it has run for a while it is extremely hard to start.Had it back to the dealer and they have no idea as to what it is. Any one have any ideas ?

Need more descriptions as to what "hard to start" means. Does it not crank well? Does it stop on the compression stroke? Does it crank good but doesn't fire? Have you tried using the manual decomp lever if you have one? Have you tried cracking the throttle open a little when trying to start it hot?

there is a large brass screw on the left side of the throttle body.i think they call it the air by pass screw.it also has an effect on the idle speed.try turning it in some.i have seen that help.dan

You don't have an ignition key on the 2012 bikes so doing a TPS restart will need to be done by the dealer. Failing that, if you hold the throttle part open it should fire up, but on a very small turn of the throttle whilst pressing the starter and have the bike in neutral. I think you can by the ignition key and wiring for your bike its something i'd consider.

yep this works for me, just a touch of throtle

Thanks for the replies. The bike is back at the Husky dealer. Yes the bike fires ok when cold but even when it runs for a couple of minutes and stop it then it wont start.Yes it does crank ok and still no fire.I have tried to use a little throttle but it just has a compression lock. It did have a code on it 102 on the dash when it cranks but only seen once. It is frustrating and when you are in the middle of the track and it wont fire i get Ped off. IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED

I just bought a TE 449 and went for my first ride on Sunday and its doing the same thing.

Turn idle speed up a little. On my 2011 when its cold it starts fine but when its hot and the fan is running it affects the running. Only an idea.

make sure your in neutral my ,te don't start in gear it will just crank , on less the bike warm then it start in gear fine
