• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

For those of you out there who are getting squeezed by Euro5 emissions, you already know the pain, but here in California, the only state in the US that is allowed to set it's own emission standards, the beginning of the end is being planned. Please see the attached document from today's C.A.R.B.Meeting. In short, if you live in Cali or your state follows C.A.R.B. standards like a sick puppy you better plan on your new 2 stroke bike purchase soon.

What a joke. I'm so glad I left that place. To hell with em guys. Pack up and get the hell outta dodge. Northern Nv could use all of ya for the racing and riding scene out here! (P.S. we ride two strokes year round). If nv adopts any of that crap I'll go somewhere else just like when I left socal. I miss the place a bit at times but can't put up with their b.s.

I find myself trying to really look at the ocean when I drive up the coast for work. Wanna burn in the memory for when I move back to the United States. I also try to get to the desert when I can for the same reason.

wait... what!? you're not in the US? I thought your were somewhere in north Sandyeggo county or Orange doing tower work? no?

(btw, vis-à-vis your CARB comment in april, AFAIK any state can set pollution standards higher than federal. but I'm not totally positive.)

"I live in California like you, but it seems the crazy people who run this state act less American with each passing day."

That is so true!

Very unfortunately so!

I didn't see anything that alarms me in that document. I had read before that there was talk of eliminating the red sticker program, but my take wasn't that they were phasing out 2 strokes. I understood it to be a positive thing by going to a 1 sticker program. Of course I could be completely wrong.

what's a red sticker????......................sarcasm.

Its a tool to make perfectly legit citizens into scofflaws and to add money into some politicians slush fund.

They're talking about if a bike doesn't meet green sticker regulations it won't be allowed on public lands, period.
