• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

These boots arent made for walkin.....

I have been wearing a pair of Oxtar TCX's..so far one season and they are wearing like iron.....pretty good for a $200 boot...personally I look for a boot with a low "toe box".....these are good

whats your favorite boot and why....?

Sidi Crossfire; I love the protection and comfort, but I hate the durability and price. That's why I still have a pair of Gaerne SG10's on hand. Pretty close to the Crossfire, but more affordable.

The new SG12's might be the answer, but that's a $500 question.

If you spend $500 at Rocky Mountain ATV you get $100 off! I bought the SG-12's when they had 'em on sale for around $400 - $100 = $300. I will be breaking them in soon...not that they need it because they feel more comfortable than my SG-10's.

That is a great find, I just picked up some Sidi Crossfires. They are the best i have had, but way to much $$, but they cheaper than the new msrp of Tech 10 and SG 12

Oxtar Tcx Pro

they are are awesome- have not caught on, have poor marketing and few dealerships, and are way under priced after they sit on a shelf...

The are super comfortable- and offer great protection- they have saved me- I have had mine for about 3 years going strong. I think I paid around 200 too msrp is about over 300. Parts- Staps can be hard to find- and just take a long time.

I wear both Gaerne SG10s and Thor Quadrants. I actually like the cheap Quadrants better because they are softer and more comfortable. I know the SGs are better built boots with superior protection, but I like my Thors. I still have a pair of Alpinestar Tech 6's, but they were always too stiff and uncomfortable and the buckles were really hard to work.

I love my SG10's! I wore Sidi Crossfires, but couldn't keep them together. Motonation was great free spare parts though. I went back to Tech 6's for a year, but really missed the hinged ankle. I was figuring on buying a second pair of SG10's when they start clearing them out, but if RM discounts SG12's that much at times I'll buy them.

I'm still using a 10yr old pair of Alpinestar Tech5 (admittedly, did have 3-4yrs in there of very low usage)
...and why? Because they have held up great for me all this time, reasonable comfort when I need to walk, stay dry wading thru creeks (well, used to), and they fully close around my 18" calves, which few boots I've tried on do.
Over the yrs, only had bit of stitching repaired once and 2 buckles replaced, but now I think their days are numbered.

My son is using Thor Quadrant boot and really likes them

I'm going to try a set of these Forma boots next. No not FOX formas these are Forma brand and Italian. Supposed to be super nice, full grain Italian leather, pivot, and very durable.

They can be found here for $200 for what is a $500 boot. I bought the AXO pressure suit from these guys (they are in Bend OR, kinda local to me) and it was a very good experience and the pressure suit is very nice.

Limited sizes though...

Yeah, you're right. I bought my SG10's that way. MC SUPERSTORE does that a lot of times, too . That's normally how I buy my tires, in $500 lots, - $100 plus free shipping.

I picked up my Sidi for $350 from MOTOSPORT about a year ago on a clearance deal.

That's a nice looking boot, and decent price. Got my interest, so just did some quick internet research on them......what little I found sounded good.

I'll be curious to see what you think of them.

The inner swivel part looks slim and well designed. I have run Alpinestar Vectors forever so this will be interesting. My current boots are about shot from the constant mud / water they survive.

- Cracks me up when they say "Italian full grain leather"... do you see any leather on those :>) i guess they have to sew all that plastic to something.
