    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

So it was suggested that we start a tire thread. List the conditions you ride and your favorite tires in order of performance.

For full disclosure i do sell Motoz tires. that said I make pennies on them and never intended to sell tires at all. Mike Kay suggested them to me once and I tried them, then my friends ran them then everyone is getting them from me. Just thought you should know.

Type of riding:

Mostly 1-3 gear single track in the Pacific Northwest. Slick clay, roots, rocks, steep hills.

Bike:

WR125, TXC250, WXC250

Front tire:

1. Motoz Terrapactor / Tracula
2. Motoz Enduro ST
3. Bridstone M59
4. Bridgestone 402
5. Motoz Enduro IT (for summer)

Rear Tire:

1. Motoz Enduro ST

4. Maxxis IT Dunlop 606 (for Dualsport only)

Comments:

For traction, predictability, wear I find the new Motoz very hard to beat. We have a lot of return customers so i think this speaks highly of them.
 
i use a shinko podium Roo6 extremely happy with it! i race tare-mac tracks only and a lot of frees-ways, but the tread looks good enough to use on dirt!
 
I've got a set of Scorpion A/T's I really like for road riding.

I just got thru running a Kenda 270 rear which I liked ok and got about 2000 miles out of it. Pretty good d/s tire, and cheap.

Lately I've been riding more and more single track, and so I have a Michelin T63 rear on right now with a Dunlop 606 front, this seems to be a pretty good set up. The T63 has 700 miles on it right now and doesen't look to bad yet.

I've been looking hard at the Motoz and may have to try a set some time in the future.

This is on a TE610.
 
Can you also list whether or not the tires(s) you are using are DOT?

-I really like the stock TE Michelin Enduro comp 3 on the front. I ride intermediate single track or deep sandy fire roads. Is DOT. They do deflect BADLY on hard rocky terrain tho.

The rear I have not settled on and cannot comment on. I have a Michelin AC-10 just waiting for me to wear out the one thats on so it can get mounted.
 
I had the Michelin AC 10 (DOT) on my te450 when I bought the bike and hated them. rode surprisingly well on road for as spaced a sthe knobbie were but couldn't get them to hook up well on the hard dirt of sacramento area. Dirt roads I found them to be an issue as well. got about 1500 miles on the rear, probably could have got another 1000 out of the front.

Got a set of Pirelli MT21's (DOT) the 140, and have loved them. I do 50/50 dual sporting. handle great on the pavement, gravel roads, dirt. Got about 4000 out of my rear and just put on my second MT21. Gonna try a 120 next time I think.
 
So far, for DOT I like a Dunlop 908 on the front and a Dunlop 606 on the back. I think that this is the best, most aggressive combo for the dirt that will still handle and wear well on pavement.

Comments: Tires work awesome in sandy conditions. Work well in all around conditions also. Wear like armour. Have about 700 miles on this set and will likely get 300-400 more. Traction is predictable and reliable. IMO the #1 tire for riding in Michigan

Is that the 908R? I have a brand new one for sale cheep if you would like another. I didn't care for it to much.

I am curently using the Karo rear DOT and so far so good. The front is a MX non-DOT that came on a CR125 wheel that I bought, I'll post the name and brand later.

Shakura/Dirt shark I like it so far 100 miles combo dirt/street.
 
Motoz tracula and Geomax 51 are both outstanding for me. Their range of hook up is amazing and longevity is there as well. Close behind is the Bridgestone 404.
 
Kenda S270 dual sport (5.10x18 & DOT) --- 1200 hiwy and trails miles and it is still doing well ...
