• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

The Rajo Headlight Mod... Results....

The Rabid Rajo Mod:

Just installed the rajo headlight mod to the 610. I used a SS Ultra 9007 bulb and the diffrence is night and day over the stocker. I thought that since I was only using one automotive bulb, the lighting would be simular to a car with only one light. Not the case. It illuminated the entire roadway. Most excellent! That combined with the twin Trail Tech spots HID, I have enough light to light the road way 1/8 of a mile away on low and over a 1/4 mile on high. Thanks a million for this Rajo dude!

I was going to us one of the TT X2 lights, but we will see...

Now on to the tail light with something that can be seen in foul weather:

So did I. I almost covered the screen with coffee when i realized what I did.

And you have a merry christmas as well..

I think the X2 halogen is cheaper than the two spots and VERY good.

The price on the X2 is very attractive, probably one of the best values around but just modifying the factory headlight to accommodate the 9007 makes a huge difference and is less than $20.00. The addition of a couple of HID lights really sets the package off. As is common for me I took the cheap route and bought a $50.00 set of Hella driving lights and retrofitted them with a HID set-up that I got off E-Bay for $80.00 so my entire investment is $150.00. For that money I got a 65w main light with fully functional HI/LOW beam (DOT legal) and two 35w HIDs (For Off road use only, of course:D).

BTW that photo was taken when the driving lights were just 55w halogens, it is almost impossible to get a pic now with the HIDs on because it totally washes out the photo, even at a good distance

Those look great.
Did you have to do anything to the stator or the electrical system first or just slap them on? I was thinking of adding two spots and was just wondering what was involved in doing it.

For a 450 you might have to rewind the stator. The 610 has a mega output generator.

I'm going to use that to convince my wife we need a 610. When the power goes out I can run the furnace and a few lights in the house.

It was the only way I could convince my wife that I needed one.:D
Now what can we use a wr300 for around the house?

That light set-up looks really sweet.

Thanks, lighting improvements has been on ongoing project for me ever since my first night ride. I'm probably not done yet, I have a few more avenues to explore.

Put a Terraflex on it and till up a nice garden for your wife!
Honestly, Rajo, you really should have known...

I used the ol' "It's a safety issue" argument in order to get my SM610.
Much safer to be squiddin' around on the street with a big ol' front brake, don'tcha think?:D

Is there a link to further explanation of the aforementioned Rajo mod?

Maybe I've been living in a cave and missed it....in which case you can lambaste me at will, but still post the link.:D
