• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

The bling is here!

After 2 weeks of being lost at UPS, my wheels finally show up!

Now it's decision time. Do I sell off the silvers as originally planned? Or keep 'em both? Thinking about using a second set of tires and want your take.

I ride 70% commute (highway and city streets, very few curves), 25% twisties, and 5% would like to go find a little dirt every once in a while. The 5% is why I got a Husky instead of another street bike instead, and by "dirt" I really mean unpaved places where people might take their big ADV bikes, as I have 0 dirt bike riding experience. A second bike for dirt only is not a possibility, wife vetoed that idea a long time ago.

I think it might be wasteful to burn through Distanzia's commuting, and I don't like my chances on PR3's in the dirt. So I was thinking a set of PR3 plus some Shinko 244's might make sense. But the money from selling the wheels can be repurposed for other farkles I might need. At what point does the cost/benefit of having two sets make sense? Or should I just go with the DS version of the Distanzia and forget about swapping wheels?

Why not sell the silver 17"s and get yourself a 21" and 17" TE wheel setup?

That's what I'd do at least

The TE is 21/18 I believe. And from everything I read, the 21" front will not fit on an SM, there is not enough fork travel and the tires rub the fender, and I also read something about the brake calipers hitting the spokes. Maybe I'm wrong and I can swap out for TE wheels, but to go full TE brake and suspension mod seems too much for as little dirt as I plan on riding.
