• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC The best radiator guards/braces yet!

Just thought I'd let you guys in on the best radiator braces ever created yet.. introducing the FlatlandRacing radiator guards..

unnamed (1).jpgunnamed (2).jpgunnamed.jpg

They do double duty of guards and braces. They mount to *radiator to frame mount*... then on the sides, the aluminum cage sticks out over a quarter inch to absorb side impact.. then from just about the middle height of the radiator, a second aluminum piece cuts in like an Z to line up with the *tank to frame mount* to provide the necessary support.

Before ordering I called and they suggested to use the xc/xcw/husaberg 250/300 model found here http://www.flatlandracing.com/Merch...de=FR&Product_Code=12-45&Category_Code=12-ktm

There was no customizing necessary to any pieces, and everything lined up really well.. only downside is... don't think I can fit a fan on, but do 2 strokes need that ?

anywho, lemme know what you guys think!

Look exactly the same as devol guards to me, good quality items!

Always good to know of more hardware merchants.
A+

Well there have been bulletproof threads on here for a while, suppose new bikes your not too clued up on fitment issues etc, flatlands look meaty imo

look very similar to Force brand guards(Aussie made). nice. as long as they keep the rads straight then its all good!

I drilled the crap out of the rear of the braces (EE ones are my faves)
I did a area math of the rear area of the radiator then a math of the brace covered area...the braces blocked like 1/3 area of the rear of the radiator....not good numbers for air flow. I also lightening hole drill the outside pillars. The things remain plenty strong, but you lose alot of weight and get much better air flow. But like I say do as you please its your bike. Somewhere on this site there are clear pics of my swiss cheesed EE rad braces.

I really like the look and function of my Bulletproof Designs rad guards. View attachment 48196

If you don't mind me asking, how have these held up so far? Iv'e really put mine (not BPD) through the paces and I have bent the mounting tabs in pretty good. Have you bounced yours off any trees lately?

Here's mine, sorry about the mud, the Enduro season is winding down and Iv'e been riding the past 4 weekends and working 50 hours in between.

I've yet to bounce of any trees thankfully I've gone down in a few rock sections. Slow speed stuff like second and third gear speeds. They don't full wrap the rads. These are the mounting instructions

The best radiator braces I have ever seen are Ty Davis's factory ultralights. They weight about an ounce each and are an enormous pain in the ass to install. He's been making them for at least five years and has not sold a single one to the public. Unfortunately not everything that Ty and I invent is released to the public, but I have been working to change that. Personally, I think Clay's are awesome with the stock deflectors.

"and are an enormous pain in the ass to install"

not only a simple PITA but an ENORMOUS PITA!! honesty is the best policy!! hahaa

PS for all its also a good idea to zip tie your louvers to the braces. I removed the EE rubber bands they were deforming the louvers and closing them anyway.

You are all wrong, there Trail Tech ones are the best :D

good thread many great choices. Im a fan of using the OEM louvers, and after doing a surface area math exercise I drill the backs of my EE guards to allow more airflow through the rads, the holes don't sacrifice too much structural integrity. with rad guards on 1/4 to 1/3 of the rad was blocked from the bracket assembly.FYI)

+1 on "Clays" 7602 Guards. I have them on my FE501. I have thrashed them every weekend, sometimes twice since then. I had them mounted at the time of Purchase by "Bills MC plus" before I even had the bike shipped to me. They come highly recommended.

Besides, Clay was kind enough to ask as a business man if it was alright to use my picture of the bike out in it's riding element being used. Rather than up on a center stand, or after being washed off and garaged. For the picture for "Husqvarna Accessories" you see on his homepage when he did his recent update on his new website.

Of course, the bike was pretty fresh at the time of this photo 7 or 8 months ago back in April, 2015.
They are still in excellent condition. I ride the AZ desert and some thick brush. I've never had a single issue with them. My radiators are still in excellent condition as well.

Furthermore nobody is paying me to say that either.
