  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

That are sun rims 4.25-17? how it communicates with oem hub?

I would like to hear your opinion on installation oem hub and a excel and sun rims. I ordered oem hub and a oem set of spokes to construct an additional rear wheel for SM450 09. At that time I didn't assume that excel has other lacing of spokes than sanremo. Then my first rear wheel received such damages that it can't be restored already :applause: .
At present I have two rear oem hubs and two sets of oem spokes.
I have a desire to use for assembly two different wheel, using excel 5.00 and sunrims 4.25. Whether my question consists in that can I use part of spokes from those that I have already? What size and what quantity of spokes I need to order in addition for each wheel?

I know excels are really good quality. As far as different spokes I think it's just based on length for the 17 inch rim and the amount of spokes. The 5 inch is really popular for a 450 because of tire choices and contact patch. I would really look into the tires available for each in your country and then decide from there. Good luck.

Besides spoke lengths there are two basic lacing patterns, one is used for Asian bikes and the other for Euro. The way to tell what you have is to look at the big triangle formed by the spokes on one side and notice which way the spoke slants on the other side while looking through the triangle. If it slants to the left it is an Asian pattern and to the right it is Euro.
Your questions could be best answered by contacting Woody's or Buchanan's Spoke and wheel.

thanks for the answer.
Someone else can be knows how many in millimeters have spoke length for lacing together oem hub and excel rims?
