  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

test ride a 450 in Arizona

Droolsport

Husqvarna
A Class
I am in the process of selling two bikes to be replaced by a 2010 TE450 but I have never actually ridden a Husky 450. My only real concern I have from what I have read is the vibration issue. :excuseme:

They say the nicest people ride Husky so I am going to put that to the test! Anyone willing to let me test ride thier 450? I will drive to your location for the test ride and bring one of my bikes so can we can swap out on the trail. Another option is if you want to come down to Tucson area I can show you some of our local singletrack and buy you breakfast/lunch after the ride either way.

I'll bet it's really cool over there in Arizona right now.

Yeah this time of year its really hard to ride but if you get up early the morning after a rainstorm or if a afternoon storm rolls in it really cools off for a evening/night ride.

Yes it does rain here on occasion :D

I know. I used to live in New Mexico.:busted:

I have an 09 TE450 and I'd love to help, but probably a bit too far for you to come for a test ride here in England. :excuseme:

I'd imagine the engine on mine won't be too different from the 2010 model - what is it that worries you about the vibration? It certainly does vibrate but I can't say I've ever noticed it at all off road.

You will notice it if you ride on the road, but there are a few things you can do to reduce it if you have to do some road miles, and mine feels happy at 50-60mph (it will go much faster but I wouldn't want to do that for any length of time as the engine's not really meant for it, and it's probably better to keep varying the speed anyway rather than sitting at one speed). At 50-60 it's not too bad and I'm certainly ok for at least an hour or so without major problems if I have to (no tingling/numb hands or feet for example).

The seat's actually more of an issue if you're seated for a while - it's not what you'd call soft! Still, thats just more incentive to get onto the dirt as soon as possible so you can stand up and be really comfortable!

One other thing - mine's done about 700 miles so far, and it's already got noticeably smoother than it was on day 1 so there may be more improvement yet to come & you need to bear that in mind if you ride a low mileage bike.

Hope you do get the chance as I'm sure you'll love it!

Forgot to mention, it rains here in England too on occasion.

It's just that in the last three weeks those occasions have been about a dozen times every day. :banghead:

So, a typical English summer then; just as well I love those 450 powerslides through the mud! :applause:
