    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

temperature sensor problem on TE310 from singapore

Dear Husky Guru,

i have a problem with my temperature sensor again, could any guru help me on this. is there a supersede part number for the temperature sensor as this is my 2nd temperature sensor on my bike.

i have a problem with the fan on the radiator even with a cold engine the fan is always running and is hard to start the bike.

What were the symptoms when the first sensor failed, did the replacing of the sensor fix the problem?

Do you have a dealer that can connect iBeat to check the temperature reading from the sensor?
It could be you may have a loose or broken wire. It seems odd that 2 sensors would fail. I don't believe the ECU which the sensor is connected to could cause damage to the sensor. It may be that while replacing the first sensor you move the wiring causing the problem to temporally go away.

If you don't have access to iBeat you could try measure the voltage across the sensor while wiggling the wires between the sensor and ECU.
 
Hi Seymore,

the 1st sensor symptoms of it is cold start with fan running. replace it and every thing is back to normal now is back agian. check with ibeat all it say is low value.

If the temp sensor is faulty then Ibeat should be showing an abnormally high water temperature (if not the ECU wouldn't switch the fan on) or you should get a fault code appear.

A simple test is to start the bike from cold and use the logging function on Ibeat to watch the graph of engine temperature rise as the bike warms up. The graph should be fairly linear but if the temp sensor is faulty you'll see the temperature appear to vary randomly up and down. I've seen one sensor that appeared to function perfectly until it got to 75 degrees then it was all over the place.
