• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Technical Tecate

this was looking up from where the first viddy began. we hit the peak then turned down through the arch and down (with some ups) the other side as seen on the viddy. This was a helmet scraper, even sucked up into the seat.

Ron, the other side up would be too much for a race course, it would turn into an ugly bottle neck.
For a hardcore trail ride like we did, OK, or for a "hard" enduro yes, but even for a larga y dura LAMC enduro too hectic. It would get ugly early! I will try to dig up some fotos from the other side (named aptly- "Cliff's Crack" trail.

That looks like it was a hell of a ride. Thanks for sharing that Robert. We have nothing like that here in New Jersey. :)

Tecate is some of the absolute best terrain on earth.....

I hope to be ready for Tecate this year.... any word on what style of race it is this year Robert? hoping for a "real" enduro

Ron, I for one along with many hope for a real enduro like 2010(super fun tough but very doable) and 2014(tougher than 2010 by quite a abit but also doable)

That would be sweet... I'm going to drag my brother down along with Bill Rogers.....

no clue about what they are doing for 2016---but IMHO a tough larga y dura HS would be the next best thing to a "real" larga y dura old school enduro

I found a couple of shots from our extended crew from the other side of the "gateway" from the "wonder why" trail up to the top.
view looking down.......

Note Im talking riding view not this down opposite view.
no other machines need, not for me......I"m on the Graham Jarvis replica**************************************** stupid good traction and lug-ability.
photo 2 some of the guys stayed left coming up of the crack on the granite, that is where I wanted to be but that dirt filled crack sucked me in I was coming from the right, , it was loamy and good for traction anyway. I was taught (told) long ago by a former trophy team and Dakar racer that "rocks are you friends, when dry they offer perfect traction".
I came high and wide and rode up from the back side of the bush right over where Manuels right shoulder is then dropped into the groove.

In the first foto that is the same way I came through and also got hung up in the steps. If you look at the last guy facing the rock, there is a line to the left that goes onto a slanted flat boulder, I thought about it, but did not know what was on the other side of the boulder, so I did what all the other guys were doing. after getting up a little I looked back and saw it was the best way up, you could jump right across where the guy is pushing with his leg and blast up. I love this stuff************************************************************************************************************************!! we are doing it again this weekend, back to Tecate****************************************!
