• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Tecate HS 2009 edition

Man I would love to spend a few days down at RSV riding and relaxing but we have a club race that weekend

I have never done this race but I would encourage people to make the trip to Rancho Santa Veronica. Its safe, relaxing and friendly and the trails are outstanding.

and the ride will test your skills and endurance.

NEWS, checking back in, the course is in work, and the entry form is online. see website.
For you east coasters Kevin Hines (HONCRE250) has won the enduro version of this race and Nate Kanney has won the HS version (we participated in both of those). This is more eastern style than what is usually thought of as a western (more open) race/ride.
I highly recommend this race in any class/level it is a great adventure. I will sign as 40B and need to deal with being a lapper for the pros after a few laps (that is hard at this event) on the tight single track.

latest news from the Ancient Ones

Hola Race Participants,

We're pleased to announce the addition of an Ironman class to the 2009 Tecate Hare Scrambles! In the past we've had many die-hard racers who like to torture themselves by racing both the morning and afternoon sessions, so this year we're going to do things a little differently and will have a formal Ironman class. Here's the details:

- Ironman entrants race the morning and afternoon sessions
- Entry fee is $120 (compare that to $160 if you were to enter both sessions separately)
- There will be one trophy for every six riders in the Ironman class
- Ironman entrants are not eligible for any other class (you'll be busy anyway)
- The winner will be determined by the rider who has the fastest combined finishing times of the morning and afternoon races.

So if you think you have what it takes, download the updated entry form and mail it in. Remember, pre-entries must be received no later than Dec 1.

You can download the updated entry form here:

P.S. With the 2009 Baja 1000 just a little over two short weeks away, we wanted to wish our Baja racing friends the best of luck.

See you in Baja,
Los Ancianos M.C.

Tecate HS

I'll be there for sure...got the days set up for it. Staying at the Melero Ranch (Family). Hopefully on a 2010 TXC 250!!! I get the first one that GP gets in. Josh said a couple more weeks...keeping fingers crossed.

If not, the trusty TC510 will be plowing through the Manzanita.

Rob, you in for staying at Melero Bros. rancho?

Any team Husky coming down? Mr. Harden, Nick B, Ty...Gary S...Be a good way to cap off a great year for Husky off road racing. Didn't Ty win it in 07 (Last HS to date)?

Maybe a little Husky party saturday night at the ranch after the carrera....Got a little bottle of Don J with ur name on it Rob...

Anyone else that lives farther away, I can put you up for the weekend, bring a bike or two...or just come to watch the drama...we got room for ya if your a Husky fan.

Tecate HS

Ok Rob,

Alex is always a good host....the distilled spirits ease the pain from earlier in the day (Manzanita whacks!!!). Yeah, I sure hope I can get that 250 in time. Alex's spot tells me he is somewhere in the middle of the penninsula, north of Baja Norte....probably another hammer down crew ride down south of Catavina. Must be nice to be retired or own your own company....

Mitch.

No, im a 30 class guy, no Sen. class for me yet, LOL. Probably do 30b, my single track skills are not honed right now...everything i'm doing is for going FAST in Mex on November 20th.

Cmon socal husky riders this is what our Huskys are designed for, enduro/ XC short course type stuff. This is one of the most Eastern/PNW style XC events in the SoCal/SW areas.

word on the street,,,2 hour sportsman race 0900 12 mile loop,, 1200 pro/ a/ b also 2 hour but a 24 mile loop ( I like that!! for my pace thats prolly 2 laps) That keep us Bs out of the fast guy lapper positions, and thats a good thing.

PNW representing

Man from t- talk there are even some PNW riders coming down for this years event. Maybe some of you guys from BC/Wash/Or know some of them?

this coming saturday!!! Yee ha!!

wow that is great!! and shoot iron manning(womanning) it!! Am and PM race!!! They will have great stories for this one!!! More power to them, 1 race for me will do me in, but 2 of those in one day!! hats off!!.......and great stuff from BajaBound, Tim & Jen rock!!

that 24 hr you guys did is super cool!! (expect Tecate to be slightly more tight and a bit more rocky) but a few less hours**************************************** PPS glad they are in Iron class less fast folks for me to worry about in my class****************************************
