• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE630 mileage thread

SilverBullet

Husqvarna
AA Class
2011 TE630
drove bike away from the dealer on Sept 24
7-1/2 months later I hit 5 figures.
10,168 miles as of yesterday.

Anybody else getting close to or over 10K miles? jtemple is the only one I'm aware of. I'm interested for comparing the long term reliability and longevity of our bikes.

I did the clutch pushrod recall replacement myself.
Speedo display replaced due to fogging present at dealer when purchased, no issue since.
No other stock parts replaced due to defect or damage.
Planned replacement of clutch cup spring washers pending as a preventive action.
Still have nearly 5 months of factory warranty remaining!!

  • 5 oil changes & filter.
  • 2 valve checks, needed one shim changed at 2,500 miles
  • on my 6th rear tire and 3rd front (shreaded a couple of cheap rears fast)
  • swapped rear sprocket at 2,500 miles with used steel 45T SM610. Still on stock chain and CS, inspected recently and all fine. No visible wear whatsoever so should last another 5-8K miles.
  • plenty of gasoline, most of my miles are tracked here. You can click on the link below for boring details.

my motto:
miles = riding = enjoyment = value
Needless to say my TE630 has been a super value thus far. Looking forward to much more.

I think I'm creeping up on 9500 miles myself. I haven't done much riding so far this year.

I put money down on my bike before they even landed at the dealers. I was hunting for a big dual sport and the Husky fit the bill perfectly. Being an early buyer, I paid MSRP. I didn't get the fire sale deal that a lot of people here got, but I got to start riding mine in May 2010.

I have considered a second street bike to stop running up the miles on my Husky. But, the more I think about it, the more I want to just ride the wheels off of this thing. I love riding this bike.

  • oil pump cover leak, replaced cover & gaskets didn't fix it, had to replace the whole side cover
  • 3 valve checks, shimmed 3 valves at 5200 miles
  • last valve check at 8768 miles - valves were all in spec
  • leaky clutch master cylinder, replaced under warranty
  • clutch pushrod recall done
  • leaky clutch master cylinder (again), rebuild kit installed
  • gauge cluster taking on water, replaced under warranty
  • sprockets, chain, guide & rollers replaced at 9000-ish miles (broken rear sprocket teeth, the ones that weren't broken were paper thin)
I have all of the parts on hand to replace the clutch spring cups. I'm just hunting around for a shop to do the rivet job for me.

I recently switched from Rotella T6 oil to Amsoil 10W-40 synthetic motorcycle oil. Shifting action is smoother and neutral is easier to find.

I think that about sums it up!

Just about 10.000 kms on my 2010 630. Apart from the clutch factory recall (no charge on that), no probs. Have just replaced the Renthal fatbar (my fault, as I came off twice and bent it). The bike´s proved it´s worth, as there´s not a scratch on the bike from my two (bad) offs. Not even a broken mirror.
