  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE511 Oil change question/issue

I am glad you happy now....live and learn huh....
I agree...........live and learn.........but If I can prevent ruthless motorcycle dealers who don't know about product. selling just to sell i will do so..........when a 16 year old kid brings a wad of money to a dealer thinking he wants something....it should be the responsibilty of the dealer (and ultimately the manufacturer).......to steer them the right way..........this is the way to get new people into the sport............not just sell to sell, sell to create long term customers........maybe I shouldn't be so harsh car dealers do the same ,,,,,,just sell to make money regardless of what the customer needs......if the customer is stupid., so what,,,,,,,just sell whatever you can to them ........once the money is in their pocket, its over............this mentality should change,,,,,,,,and manufacturers can change that by educating their dealers on how to sell properly........and if the dealer dosent do that , they should be dumped as a dealer.......their are many good dealers in the usa. and a few bad ones.......I got a bad one..........

I disagree........lets go riding........lets go do some gravel roads.......and then lets go on the highway.....lets see who eats a lot of dust........
ps. you can use the word dual sport all you want.........I don't use those words dual sport.......I use the words I want to go on gravel roads and highway............im tired of the words dual sport..........don't follow the crowd . follow yourself

Congratulations on the new bike & glad you took note this time, even though I'm not a mechanic... "KTM 690 Enduro (which in my opinion is the bike that best stretches either end of the dirt/road spectrum)"

I think it is the bike for you & you'll love it. It's a beast. How does it compare with the 610 on road and generally (is it noticeably lighter & more powerful, smoothness, revs at say 70mph etc). From what I've read it's the same class of bike as the 610, but probably a little better and more modern all round. Would want to be for the extra cost though.
russ this was a very nice post of you.......I love your quote and hope manufacturers take note of your quote. I think their will be more and more riders seeking exactly what you say. and the style of riding we are speaking about in the future.......im thinking now that i have the 690........I will probably not want to bother tricking my older 610..........the 690 should be able to romp all over the other older tricked te..........I think I better sell it.......interesting why the older 610 is in demand now In calif.............why? because of no bikes out their that do what you say.......stretch the spectrum****************************************!!!

russ , give me some time and I will compare the 690 to the older 610........my guess is the 690 will romp all over the older bike . due to new technology? and it is 100 cc. bigger too********************************************************************************!! and it weighs almost exactly the same as 610...........the 690 weighs 305.......I think the 610 weighs 298...........

2006 te610 dry weight 308.6 2013 ktm 690 dry weight I think is 306.............ktm 2 lbs less weight................but I think cc .......is te 576? not sure......ktm cc is a full 690...............you do the math.........ktm weighs less,,,,,,,yet is im sure 100 cc more........time to sell the te

KTM, Husky are one now, but the TE511 and 449 are one of a kind, not KTM yet, tbh I have done 130 miles on my TE449 today, hit 95, and still little more, certainly very quick up to 85, handles a dream. When I talk off road, not talking gravel, talking proper off road like deep mud, Ruts etc. so the KTM 690 it is a no no for that.
and then take the price, :) Still as long as you are happy it matters not to anyone else :)
