  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

te511 fork seal savers?

I've been using "shox sox"'s on my TE 511 they use Velcro on and off. They don't cover the entire fork lower but I've found they work really well to keep most of the mud and crud away from the seals area and the stuff that comes off the front tire and hits the unprotected backside of the forks. I take them off and wash them after every ride just to make sure they're clean for the next ride and don't hold any mud/dirt against the fork. I hope to get a season out of them & new ones next year.

We recommend them, but ours you have to take the forks off to install them. Velcro ones seem interesting. :)

Seal Savers has a new version with Velcro. Otherwise, dropping the forks for a traditional install shouldn't be a deterrent for anyone who owns a dirtbike, right? I always found them good protection, but not everyone loves them.

I like them. They protect the seals from dust and the fork tubes from rock dings. I replaced the reflectors to make it easer to install.IMG_0703.JPG

Sorry guys, my mistake they're spelled shock sox NOT shox sox like I had written above:)

I helped out with changing 4 fork seals last Friday - none of them were on my bike:) or any other husky s:)
I think they may be just a convenient way to add a little more protection against debris - it's also easy to keep an eye on things when you can take them off after every ride - been working for me anyway:)
