  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE511 boots?

tonskiguy

Husqvarna
AA Class
I know there is likely a better category for this question, however, I want specific answers from those the ride the TE511 / 449. These bikes are a bit wide through the foot pegs. What boots work well with these? I bought a pair of "clearance sale" Fly's, and the shape of the hard plastic sole was so bad that I could not shift the bike without looking down at my foot. They are useless. Any Real World recommendations that won't break the bank?

I would worry more about which boots fit your feet first. Then I can make your pegs larger for bigger boots.

Ah ha ha.. I'm chuckling because the first time I rode my 511 I was thinking "need new boots or different shifter". I have a pair
of SG10's (which aren't slim line narrow boots) but you get used to it after a little time. Now if I were a racer having to shift with
precision then it could be an issue.

My Tech 7 supermoto boots were just fine on the '13 TE449 I rode last winter. Talk about a pair of hollowed out oak log clown shoes...

I just got a pair of Fly Mavericks, great price for what looked to be a good reviewed boot. So far I am still getting used to them, but think I might switch to less of a race oriented boot, and something a little more flexible. I normally rode in Combat boots as I am in the Air Force and had several pair laying around, and the MX boots are a big difference in stiffness and bult. I have a pair or AGV Laguna Seca boots that I use for my street bikes and even them are a little too stiff and bulky for my liking. But hey, I guess the stiffer and bulkier the better they protect. I just am in no way used to the braking and shifting with the bigger bulkier boots.

Your avatar answers why you ask such a meaning question. .. Are you aware of such things as socks? Do you need help there also? That is another category also though ...

Hope you learn to wear and purchase boots correctly before you decide to sell your bike :) ..It is an essential part of daily life AND bike riding ... Good luck.

I wear cheap motocross boots, and they are clumsy if your not used to them. Expensive one usually are too.
They break in with time, and you also adapt and if you give them time you'll like them.
The protection they afford is worth the time to get used to wearing them. Ankles that get damaged, cause
Problems forever, and these types of really protect you..give Em time
