  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE510 ECU 09 Spec upgrade.

AUSKY

Husqvarna
AA Class
G'Day All,
During my last service I was informed of an 09 spec ECU upgrade for the 08 TE's was available to install, so with out hesitation I agreed.
The big girl is now running AWESOME!!! A lot crisper, cleaner & much better fuel economy. 85 klm with 1.2 ltrs to spare, 14.23 klm/ltr. Sorry for the metric specs but it's all I know. Power up kit & Db killer/spark arrestor in.
Very very happy, goes like a demon, on steroids now. WooHoo****************************************!
The pipe is running so clean it's unreal, not as sooty as before, mid range & top end are also building quicker & smoother, more power & torque just a little hesitant off idle. Once you open the throttle the smile gets bigger & bigger the more you twist.
If this is any indication, the 09's, they are going to be WICKED****************************************:awww:

ECU upgrade? Is that a new EFI map? I have been waiting for this type of upgrade!

David

G'Day David,

Yes this is a new fuelling map, down loaded from the PC.
The dealer had to purchase a new cable & software to download it into the bike.
Your wait is over!!

I want this new map! :applause: Why did your dealer have to purchase a new cable & software? Did they upgrade the iBeat software and cable?

Better fuel economy? Awesome! What do you estimate your fuel consumption was before the upgrade?

Thanks,
Tommy

85 kilometers is 52.7 miles.

say 1 liter the remaining 1.2 liters is usable you could add 14.2 kilometers to the 85....so 99 kilometers or 62 miles to the small stock 1.9 gal. tank, maybe 33mpg. 2.7 (usable IMS) x 33 = 89 miles.

There was a map update mid 08 production year, if your local dealer has the necessary software they can determine if the ECU has the updated map or not. If I'm not mistaken the most recent map ends in an "A" but has the same map/eprom number as the original 08 map.

Nope, it's coded into the interface portion of the diagnostics is my understanding.

Can that number be read via iBeat?

Is the "re-programming" if needed done via iBeat?

The cable is for use with IBeat & has software to install to IBeat.
Apperently the 08 IBeat interface cable wont allow the upgrade. The software contains the new fuel map.
The dealer told me that this cable was also able to tune the 09's, the 08 one wouldn't work. Don't know why, all I know is that they (The dealer) weren't to happy about spending more money on a new cable & software, after purchasing one last year, they were saying that they hope it is not going to be an annual cable & software upgrade as this one cost AU$ 1200, a bit over the top I feel.
The bike is first set up on the 08 cable, to check any fault codes & to return settings to "Normal" & then the 09 cable was used to install the upgraded fuel map.
The IBeat ECU ID number after the upgrade definetly contained a suffix of "A" that was not present before, I was at the shop as they were performing the upgrade & saw it with my own peepers.
Some reports that have just come back from a 10 day tour up to Cape York were, up to 130 klm out of a 7.2 ltr tank. Just cruising. 08 TE510 X2.
:cheers:Now that is awesome****************************************!!:applause:
I do believe that the mileage is feasable after last weekends ride. Totally relevant to the "twist the wrist" factor, the more twist the more gas she will consume.
If this is an indication the 09's are going to be wicked!!

G'Day Tommy,
The best range I have experienced is 104 klm whilst riding sweep & just cruising, the worst is 65 klm whilst on the gas.
My bike was purchased Dec 07 & contained an earlier mapping set up to the mid 08's mapping.
A different bike now!!

Yes Coffee,

I read your other posts. If you get more details like "does the new iBeat cable supersede the old one", or even the part number of the new cable that would be great.

I'm not too sure if the new cable superceeds the old one but will make some enquiries & post back what info I can glean from the dealer.

For the record your description of how the bike was transformed almost had me checking air fare to Australia to come check out your bike

Bring a cushion, its a LONG flight,I seem to remember 15 or 16 hours non stop,LA to Sydney, plus a couple of hours SF to LA,then 3 hours to Cairns plus waiting time.
