  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Te449 Stock muffler

I took the spark arrestor out of the stock muffler(2013 449) and I couldn't believe how loud that thing was! I saw a few videos on the Powercore 4 and the db tests I was wondering if anyone knew how the stock muffler without the arrestor compared to the powercore 4 with and without the quiet insert, thanks! also has anyone ever been pulled over for loud exhaust?

Did you de-cat it or just remove the spark arrester ? My opinion would be if you can afford it get the Powercore 4. It looks a lot better than that
monstrosity of a stock can plus it gives you a little more low and midrange grunt. It sounds way better and has a built in spark arrester which, depending
on where you ride, you have to have. I can't comment on the quiet insert because I don't use one but I've read that it improves low end while possibly giving
up a little top end. Someone who's using one should chime in, hopefully.

I put the power 4/w quietcore. I like it, made a difference, but it is louder than stock. I believe it might
pass a sound test. I am in Illinois too, Edwardsville.

I would think that having a spark arrestor is more important, but then again, here in the land the over-governed (AKA CornHoleAfornia) we will probably need both pretty soon. I thought of de-catting mine, but for the amount of effort, I would rather just go with a slip-on. That way when the Communisitic Air Retardation Board (CARB) decides to make us smog every damned thing with an internal combustion engine, I'll be ready for their asses.

Same here. Thought of decatting, but i'm sure CARB will implement smog on motorcycles...well they have to get rid of all of our guns first. Anyway, I did the powercore4 with silent core, which is supposed to be compliant with BLM standards for noise (and I didn't see any major difference with sound than the stock)...but since i'm against the elitist liberal pigs..aka government, I run mine full open in town..no problems with cops yet...knock on wood..haha

I also have the Power core 4. Definitely too loud for USFS and BLM (but way fast). Installed the quiet insert for a semi happy medium, should be able to pass 96db, not sure if it could pass 94db.
