  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE449 Multi piece rear guard to single piece top?

Dangermouse449

Husqvarna
Pro Class
I have a 2011 TE449 with the 3 piece top rear mudguard.
What do I need to make it the same as 2012 onward. Just the new upper & lower sections or is there other hardware too? Can't quite tell from the parts list.

No one has done an early to late rear guard conversion on a TE449/511 ???? Really?

I'll be the guinea pig then I guess.....

Let us know how it goes, please. Lots of photos, tips and which swear words work best.

Shouldn't be too hard, I reckon.

Yeah, I don't reckon it'll be hard, just hoping I only need the upper & lower sections & not other stuff.
Looking at the parts fische isn't the same as doing it.
(I have had my bike parked upside down twice now & the rear guard is looking.....um..... a bit second hand lol

I have actually been shocked how good the plastic holds up on these 449/511's.

Yeah, they do wear well but the early multi-piece rear guard sucks a bit when you crash.
Mine is aligned with Tek-screws after a couple of big hits.

I have white side panels & a new front guard on order, figured I may as well update the rear end & freshen the whole bike up.
I also have the Special Parts SM decal kit coming too, should look sweet :)

I've changed the tail plastics on two SMR's from '11 to '12. You need the top piece and lower piece, they bolt straight on with some tweaking, pretty easy to figure out.

Awesome, thanks for that.
Looked like that for parts lists but wasn't sure.
Cheers.
