  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE449/511 Bars, handguards, GPS mount, levers, pedals and shifters

I don't know if this is a good multi subject thread but it seems these items are the controls of the bike and getting things dialed in for my abnormally tallness really made a difference on my old bikes. I'm 6'-4" and want to change bars for my height, add sturdy hand guards and mount a voyager or other full function GPS on the bars. Any suggestions? Sorry if this is in there somewhere but I couldn't find specific info on this topic. I have seen one example but it wasn't very specific about height, brand and model. As someone mentioned before maybe a te, tc, 449/511 place needs to be created due to the number of people who are taking advantage of the deals (me included)
P.S. got my FMF MB and 4.1. Waiting on OEM parts for the install. (thanks to slip on silencers thread and mostly Tinken for the advice)

Motosportz makes bar risers.
Zip-Ty makes a brake pedal tip that extends it.
No clue on GPS stuff though.

Flexx bars and pivots pegs are amazing. The pivot pegs give good grip to the bike and allow you to spin them just enough to get a better feel with shifting and rear brake. I really thought these mods were BS but recently rode a 511 with them done. I really can't say enough about them. I'm not quite as tall as you but am 6'1. Between that and a seat concepts seat you could ride forever.

I'm 6'6" and know how hard it is to ride with your bars low. The sturdiest bar risers I found were the Scott's stabilizer sub mounts. I bought the entire upper triple clamp which included the risers from BRP here on CafeHusky and they offer a 10% discount. $215. I also added 116mm flexx bars, in total my bars are 2.5" taller over stock.

I use a Voyager as my dashboard on plated TXC449. Works fairly well, though a bit hard on old blind guys to see at speed. Trail Tech provides great service....I dropped it and knocked off the main control button....they just had me send it in and fixed it right up. Another height trick is to get the reversible fastway type pegs and lower the footpegs and moves them back a touch. Im 6'2" and flip the pegs plus the 1" Husqvarna bar mount risers and that works pretty well for me.

Vet,
I had had the same issues. I use HDB Hanguards. Hands down my most functional upgrade on this great bike (TE449). I added Rox Risers but they provided to much play with the stock rubber handle bar bushings and the risers actually cracked. Since then I replaced the bushing with billet aluminum ones (from BRP) and Motorsportz Risers and I could not be happier. The bars are at a good height for standing and feel solid with the BP bushings. I will upload a picture of my setup if you want.

Aloha

The flex bars are on the radar, I'll look into the pivot pegs but the seat is a definite near future item. Thanks

Decent deal!! Sounds like a sturdy way to go. Thanks,

Does it show all of the functions of the stock display plus the GPS features? I would like to find a GPS that completely replaces the stock speedo. Thanks,

I'll look into those hand guards and if not to busy I would like to see a picture. It's nice to have everyone experiment so a late comer can utilize the info and save some headaches and cash. Thanks,

I've got a set of Flexx bars for sale. Got about 800 miles on them and they are in good shape. Have rebuild kit and various sets of bushings as well. 14 degree enduro.

PM with offer if interested :)
