  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Te310 Vs Exc-f 350

TE310 Vs EXC-F350

Looks like my te250 05 is going to a new home this week end so its to renew.

I am sooo freakin excited and have narrowed my next ride down to these two.

I love the husky brand, better warranty, great reviews, less common etc but I've gotta say the new 350 KTM looks pretty good.

I know I'm going to upset people with my crazy comments but is anyone else looking. Is it fair to compare a 300cc to a 350cc???

I'm racing a 2010 TXC 250 right now and have spent a lot of time on a 350 SX-F in the last few months. Both are good machines but I personally like the husky more. The KTM feels slightly lighter when picking it up on the stand or off the ground, but the husky feels much lighter in motion. The KTM has had forks and shock revalved and the suspension is incredible. I'm still working on getting the husky dialed in as far as suspension goes, but if I were to spend the same money on the husky's suspension as my buddy spent on his KTM I'm sure it would be just as good or better.

The FI on the KTM is better all around. Not that there are major problems with my husky's FI, but when switching back and forth I notice the KTM is just crisper and more accurate.

The husky handles better than the KTM in my opinion. Just more accurate and predictable. For tight trees and rocks there is no comparison, the husky wins.

The KTM puts out more power, but you have to rev the engine wayyyyy up there to get it. Down low not much happens, and I feel like my 250 will lug lower in the rpm's and still pull out compared to the KTM. Depends on where you ride mostly. If it is tight trails and woods the husky is going to be much less tiring and easier/more fun to ride.

I know it's not the exact comparison you were looking for, but hopefully it helps a little. If it were me I'd buy the Husky and spend the money you saved not buying the KTM on suspension and engine upgrades. Go out and have fun.

Hey, when did this start? I'm VERY interested in your thoughts with the bike, Clay! If prudent, maybe another thread would be better for your experiences and observations. Hoping you have some better hardware coming for the x-lites because of your experiences.

Carry on!

I had a short ride on a EXC350 sunday.

Positives ( 350 better ):
Very mellow off the bottom, would be way easier managing the 350 in really tight stuff
Rev's way higher & strong mid/top ( I got significantly higher up a hill I'd been screwing up on the 310 ), the extra rev range & torque was handy.

Negatives ( 310 better ):
I thought my 310 has a way more responsive motor, the 350 is lazier, more like the 2008 txc50
Engine inertia, the 310 just feels light engine wise
I prefer the flick ability of the 310, but the 350 was very stable in the sand ( could be suspension )

The only things that I think the 350 has over the 310 are rev range, gear ratio spread and maintability ( the designers who thought removing the battery to change the air filter was acceptable & the dumb as hose off the oil plug should be redirected to somewhere more suited to their talents like Microsoft ).

I have a 2010 TC250 and owned a 2010 TXC250 as well. Rode several KTM 350's now. Good bikes but similar feelings as the poster above me. 350 feels heavier and more cumbersome. IMHO the 350 feels like a weak 450 and did not excite me. The EFI and suspesnion are btter than the husky but the husky is FAR more inexpensive so those can be fixed and have money left over which is exactly what i would do faced with the KTM350 -v- the Husky 310 choice. I am faster on my 2010 TC250 than i was on the KTM350 in the tighter woods i ride. the 310 handles way better, feels a good bit lighter and accelerates between corners quicker.
