  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE310 Kickstand help

IMG_6315 (1).JPGI have an 09 TE310 with an aftermarket (But still husky) kickstand. I bought it used and the previous owner was short, so he tried to put a smaller kickstand on to make it easier to get on/off. turns out it doesnt stand up, so i have to use a 2x4. What do you all recommend i do? i cant find any kickstands online that look to be the same. thanks

My 2011 TE310s stand is about 16 1/2 inches. I have to lean the bike to the right just to get it to off the stand. I think that it's engineered to rotate to far forward and they made it longer to compensate. That stand would probably work fine on a bike that has been lowered but I don't understand why a shorter rider would want a shorter kickstand? Maybe you could trade with someone that lowered their bike?

I had one like that that was cut down and I got the piece re welded in and it wasn't visilble - maybe a fabricator can put a piece of aluminium in shaft near the base

  • get the stock stand (new, or prev. owner?) or have a section welded in (measure from the pivot to the ground)
  • the previous owner probably had a lowering link also
  • the "triangle" formed by the kickstand, front wheel, rear wheel contact patches isn't too big to begin with. On my stock 310r, the sweet spot is very fine between being too uphill or too downhill for kickstand use.
  • I also have to lean the bike to the right of center to retract the stand.
  • speaking of retract: cut that extended bolt head off if you would like to NOT have the auto-retract feature
  • hell, maybe you could drill and tap a deep hole through the bottom foot and screw a steel section in there (eg, all-thread with a 90* bend at the end for the true okie look; or a carriage bolt even)
good luck.

BTW, most stock kickstands seem to have 2 springs (inner & outer). I don't know if that is relevant to your issue.

I have the stock stand from the previous owner, although its in 2 pieces. I am going to try and have it welded, or have a small section welded in my current one. Hopefully a aluminum welder wont break my bank
