  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Would a 2011 TXC310 air boot improve my bottom end throttle response on my 2011 TE310 even with out the new 12 hole injector?

Would a 2011 TXC310 air boot improve my bottom end throttle response on my 2011 TE310 even with out the new 12 hole injector?
I'm refering to an article in a mag, where a fella put a TC250 air boot in his 2012 TE310. He says the TC or TXC air boot has a larger volume than the TE's & an internal ram tube to ensure unrestricted airflow. I took a 2012 TE310 for a test ride, which was stock standard with the new 12 hole injector, the power was very smooth/progressive with no flat spot or hesitation in low speed throttle response, compared to my 2011 TE310 which has a 4 hole injector. I would like to fix the flat spot/hestitation at low speed on my 2011 TE310 with out installing the expensive 12 hole injector, that to me seemed like I had to work harder to lift the front wheel over obsticles compared to my bike. I'm very happy with my little bike over-all, just would like to know if anyone has tried a different air boot on a 4 hole injected 310.

I think everyone is dumping the 4 hole injectors right off the bat instead of trying to work around them. But to answer your question I haven't heard of anyone attempting to change the boot. Have you looked to see if the part numbers are the different?

The cage that comes with the TE310's power up kit is pretty unrestrictive...

No mate, I havent checked part numbers yet for a match, some of the points raised here give me some ideas though. I'm almost out of warrenty so I will be free-er to tinker with the bike more soon. I got the bike back today from the shop/dealer & the ignition timing wire was letting small amounts of oil out & moisture in, but no corrosion was evident. Took it for a 20 minute blast & the bike didnt seem to have any flat spots or hesitation in throttle response. Who knows, now I'm thinking it just could of been a bad batch of fuel delaying the feel of the bike that I'm used to.

I think you will find that the part numbers are the same between the TXC and TE. I think what you are looking for is using a TC 250 intake boot that uses the same mikuni FI that your TE has. I have a couple of friends that have done this in the past and I think it gave some improvement. Be sure that the boot does not rub on the shock or exhaust. Another trick I did to improve power was to drill a few holes in your side covers, I put mine so I could duct tape over if very wet or dusty. I could definitely feel a difference with this mod.
