  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE310/250 CEV (left handlebar) switch removal

AA Class
Hi!

Has anyone removed their CEV switch (left handlebar switch w/turning signals, lights and horn controls) from the bike? How to make it in the easiest way (so I can easily put the switch back)?

It does not look very straightforward as the wiring is wrapped/insulated together with the other wires in the steering column/underneath the gas tank area. I guess I had to tear this insulation apart...

I don't need the switch on the tracks and/or need to replace it with a smaller one in different location (to put ICO/roadbook controls in).

WBR,
Alex

I believe on my 310 the switch just unplugs. maybe there was 2 plugs? of course your lights etc will not work, but I'm guessing that's what you're shooting for.

good luck.

Yeep, I got my light duct-taped, just for the stones :) Thx! Will try carefully, on winter maintenance, after removing the tank.

I did that in order to free some space for the ICO/roadbook switch. You need to unwrap the wiring harness near the steering column, it should be straightforward. Then disconnect the switch connector under the tank.

There's no easy plug and play option, as the wiring is too short. So, every time you want to plug it again you'll have to disassemble the tank, etc etc... I think the only solution is to extend the wiring harness with new wires...

In my case, I removed the switch completely. Btw, once it is disconnected your headlights turn into high beam mode.
