    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hello! Im new and I was wondering if I could get some of your help with my TE310 2011. My bike used to ride smoothly and worked perfectly. One day it started bogging, so I took it to the mechanic and he told me that the fuel pump didnt work anymore, I buyed a new one and replaced it. In my country i couldnt find the KL97 Fuel Filter, nor the filter that goes on top if the fuel pump itself, so we placed other ones that fitted. After that, the bike worked perfectly, i took it to a motocross track and the practice was 10/10, then i washed the bike and left it stored for around 4 days.

Then i went to the track again to a race, it took me a lot of time to start it up (kick start only), and if i stopped accelerating it died. We checked it and found that the air filter was getting sucked in the air box, so the bike drowned, we took the air filter off and the bike was able to keep running, i thought we had fixed the problem. We correctly placed the air filter and reassemble everything, but when i got back to the track, after like 3 minutes the bike started bogging again.

I took the bike to another mechanic who thought it might be the valves and its time, so he adjusted them. At first the bike seemed to work great, but after 10 minutes of riding it, when i was accelerating at low revs the bike felt like if it didnt have enough power at the low revs, after some minutes the bike didn’t want to start because it was warm. Since then the problem increased, it is not easy to startup the bike If it is not cold, when im in 1st or 2nd gear advancing from idle, the bike bogs a lot, but when it has speed and i accelerate it, it does not bogg, the problem is when im halt and i want to start advancing.

Weve cleaned the fuel injector, it seems to work properly. I dont know what else could it be, the bike worked fine with the new fuel pump for the first 45 minutes, then the problems started again, i dont know if it is extremely necessary to put the KL97 filter, the one i have seems to work fine, or if it has something to do with the TPS (which I don’t understand), or the Throttle body, or any electrical component.

Im starting to get frustrated because the bogging problem never seems to cease, and in my country no one has any diagnosis tester for these type of Huskys, just for the new ones. Can anyone guide me with what can I do? I miss the fun days with this bike
 
Ok. An engine needs correct ignition timing, compression, fuel and spark to run.
1. Correct timing - check that your flywheel woodruff key is not sheared. It happens on these bikes and will retard the ignition or make the bike impossible to start.
2. Compression. If your valves (normally intakes) are wearing out you will get low compression making the bike down on power and hard to start. These bikes have an auto decompressor on one of the exhaust valves so it's hard to get a reading without disabling it. Do a valve clearance check again. If the intake valve(s) have closed up then it's time for new valves and a top end rebuild.
3. Fuel. Get a hold of a fuel pressure tester (~$50 on eBay) to confirm that you have steady fuel pressure (~40psi) supplying the injector
4. Spark. Try a new spark plug. I have also had the high tension lead go high impedance.

I had a 2010 TE310 and had the following problems.
  • Ignition high tension lead failed - hard to start and misfiring
  • 3 x rubber intake boots delaminating from cylinder mount plate - wouldn't start
  • Intake valves worn out at 3,000km due to dirt ingestion
  • Spark Plug - carbon and condensation build-up
I'm going to guess one of your intake valves is worn out, has lost it's hard facing and keeps sinking into the head causing no clearance and compression loss.

and one that is worn out. If I shimmed this valve it only lasted a few hours before it had no clearance again.
