  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

te250 vs wr250

Hello everybody

Just wanted some thoughts from you guys really about these two bikes.

I just compete in 3hr enduro races once a month and then a little bit of play time when i get chance

Ive only been riding about a year and a half, never ridden a 2 stroke
I've been offered a wr250 2011 for my te250, plus I'll have to give him £300

Im 6ft, 225lbs in my gear and thought I might get a bit of extra poke from the wr

I do really like my te but I here all these people saying that 2 strokes are easier and cheaper to look after and they are better bikes for the sort of thing I am doing. i do find that my bike bogs off slow corners and i struggle to do more technical bits without it stalling. I find u have to be super fast with the clutch, which I'm not. Could just be that its
My first season, and I need to learn to ride better.

Any thoughts ??

I own both bikes. Your freinds are right.

TE250 is a better turning bike and it has e-start. WR250 is faster and more snappy in power delivery.
TE is modern and WR250 is old school 2 stroke.

I race the WR because the TE is just too delicate to pound in a race. if the TE was more rugged I'd race it but it really is a bit too "x-light" for racing. The WR is overbuilt and will run forever with regular maintenance.

I have the old 4 port injector in my 2010 TE and it really does not bog at all anymore once I tuned it, adjusted the valves and fixed the flywheel properly.
The TE has to be set up just right to run well.

If you want a bike to race get the WR.

Cool thanks for the info, it's really helpful
Do u need a different technique to ride the 2 stroke? I've read that u don't have the engine braking like with a 4 stroke

All I do mostly is race so that's interesting that you say if u wanna race get the wr

I get what u mean about the xlite, it seems a bit fragile and needs a fair bit of tlc.

Yes, powerbands are different, engine braking, rotating mass on bigger 4 strokes is an issue, different weight distribution.
If you ride them back to back this will be obvious, but once you start riding one or the other then you will tend to optimize your riding style for that bike.

I have a very nice WR250 that is a lot of fun.....but I would still rather ride my TXC511; works better for me, but others will reverse that preference depending on how the ride, where they ride, priorities, etc.

Get the WR.
You may really like the TE, and it's a fine bike, but it's not a matter of if, but when it's going to explode, and then you're left with a parts. bike.
Also, the market for used 4 strokes is limited, for that same reason.
