  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE Fuel Tank Vent

Where are folks routing the fuel tank vent line after removing the evap cannister? Do you just run it down the steerer tube like the old days, or are you running it somewhere else?

There is a post on here some where that say you may rinse all the grease out of your bearings due to the steering lock . I just run mine through the open center bar clamp and along side the steer tube .

i replace mine with a new hose from the auto parts store long enough to go down
the front frame and under the skid plate .at lest when you dump it on its side the gas doesn't pour
on the hot pipe.

cut it short and install a one way valve. preferably red.

only problem with the one way valve is the heat from the motor,
the gas expands and the tank balloons up just like a balloon
it blows off the cross over line between the two petcocks
this happen to me twice before i clued in on what was going on

I wont run those check valves anymore, I had my tank balloon in the heat and start forcing gas out of the fuel pump seal onto the exhaust.

Never had an issue with my one way valve. Sounds to me that if your tank is ballooning your vale isn't working correctly.

If it is truly a 'one-way' valve, the ballooning would be a real possibility. The one-way would have to be in, so that your fuel can flow, thus the 'out' being blocked would mean ballooning if the contents of the tank warmed up.

I was considering one of these, but hadn't thought of that...

yea like you say AndrewS ,i think it has to do allso, with the type of tank you have ,te and txc have a deeper tank
my 05 /06 /o7 tc and 08 te didnt have this problem only my 2011 te 310
a one way valve is just that ,it lets air in, or air out.
