• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey all,

Well i bent my shifter this weekend and need to replace it. Dealer wants $50! I can't find anything aftermarket for the 630, but did find a "driven" folding shifter for a 510. Does anyone know if this will fit a 630 or if there is an aftermarket shifter out there yet for the 630?

Thanks

As of one month ago my extensive search turned up nothing available for the 630 except the Husky part. Uses exact same shifter as last gen 610 ('06-'9) but no other Husky model will fit. I scoured Ebay for two months and couldn't find a used one either.

If it's only bent then why not bend it back? If it breaks then the $50 dealer part is your best option.

That shifter is seriously hard - you must have hit it hard. Where is it bent? I would remove it, heat it up and try and bend it back in shape. Only replacement I have seen is a mod to a Hammerhead that was bent, drilled and filed - real mission for what?

Yep and I'd never try or trust that filed down modified one either. Too much chance to mess up your shifter shaft splines. Then you would really have an expensive and time consuming repair.

Yeah was my thought exactly! If one started with a shifter with the same spline maybe could bend and bob a bit but are actually weakening it, especially if alu. The OEM is hardened (chrome alloy?) steel and while no great beauty of engineering is very functional and the right shape etc - esp with a new HH tip :)

I bought a spare shifter before I modded the stock one I currently use, and I could swear I only paid $24 for it. I bought mine at Tri County in Moorpark CA.

Thanks all. Yeah i kinda went of a single track in some rock and the went off down a small cliff. I swear it came to rest on the shifter! I was planning on the heat and bend repair, but was hoping there was a decent aftermarket shifter. Guess the torch is coming out.
