  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I will start off saying this trail was the most challenging 33 miles I have ever road ! We started from the south end from Courtright reservoir the rumored toughest direction :) it took us 6 hours and that is with 3 nice breaks. I managed to have one fall about half way up the infamous Thomson Hill and let me say that hill is no joke , I did manage to get around 7 other riders stuck in the rocks going up this hill and it was an awesome feeling going past two KTM 300's, two CRF 450r's, CR 250 , xr400, and a drz400 .... At this point I finally started realling in my two friends on there 2012 WR450's Lol.... The whole group total of about 11 took off about 15 minutes before me because I was slow getting out of bed but by the time I made it to the trail and got my TE over a tree that must have fallen a few moments after the group went by and made it to Thompson hill it was all to clear just how good this husky works and had several comments about the TE and how well it seemed to work ! :) I ran my half worn out maxxis desert tires and seemed to work fine and my two buds on there 2012 WR's had bran spanking new trials tires and they were both sold on how well they worked ! Still didn't stop the husky from going around them when the going got tough ! He he he :) there were time I got passed to so not trying to sound like the trail terminator lol.... I was most amazed with how well my bike would go strait and hold a line through the ugliest rocks I ever ridden threw ! Lol Before planning this trip I searched a few forums to try and gain a good idea of what I was going to be up against and my expectations were easily met and then some ! Thank you to thoughs out there who have documented this ride I will be short and sweet with my report. Also there was a Honda 450 2wd quad that I would have bet $1000 against being able to do this trail but after he made Thomson hill I just couldn't believe he made it !!! 33 miles of Dusy on a TRX450 quad ! OMG !! We have lots of GoPro vids to put together and I will post a video here when it's ready .. Best trail bike ever (for me :) ).... 2012 TE 511 , gets it done ! I don't care what anyone thinks about the new husky , it works awesome !

oh look, another 449/511 lover, big surprise. Not bad for such a horrible bike (or so i have read)

 100% agree, fantastic do it all bike.

Oh, BTW, the CTS does not work, the motor is weak and the bike handles funky... good luck.

awesome.

- that guy needs a lowered WR250 with a rekluse and a trials tire.
He actually had a new trails tire on for this ride and loved it ! I don't know why he had such a hard time but he enjoyed every minute of it :) he is eyeballing the recluse , the 2012WR 450 has a really stiff clutch pull .. I have seen him ride really good though !

lol.... As a matter of fact I do believe I was the only one who didn't boil over and the bike easily pulled the knarly rock uphills in the bottom end range with 13/51t.... I could have road that entire trail under 4k rpm easily. Yep that's pretty sucky. Love the one finger clutch pull way more than a recluse ! :)

throw that pile of shit away, MXA says it's crap. :D

I must admit I was cringeing every time he dropped that bike on those rocks and the sound of the metal getting scraped across the rocks wasnt to good. He dealt with it better than I would have, I would have lost my shit. Looks like a top ride with plenty of testing sections.
