  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Te 511 Bottom End Rebuild

Yeah I am more curious about the TE511 crankshaft as that is what I have. Although I have really low miles compared to most now a days. So not a huge concern but thought eventually some one here will need this.

I thought by law KTM had to remake the parts for the bikes for 10 years? I know the bmw crank is available and probably will be for some time.

449 vs 511 is all in the Jug & piston. Bottom end is the same

There is a difference in the early and late Husky cranks, BMW falls into the early Husky I believe. Keyway for the stator is different. When Zipty redid my G450X I needed a new gear for the updated crank that was sent.

Who knows if law follows when companies get sold?
Matt

Aren't these motors still available, new- in a crate, for like $2200? Seems like I remember seeing that, which makes me think that cranks should be attainable.

good luck
CCM pretty much cleaned out all the readily available spare stock around the place building their GP450 adventure bikes.
Kymco have scrapped the remaining complete engines held there to free up factory space after CCM 'Forgot' to reply to a request to buy them or miss out.
This is the reason the GP450 model was discontinued despite holding orders for bikes.

As for the other comments on 449 VS 511, it's only 26cc, but if the 511 piston and barrel are usable, they're the only parts needed to turn the 449 into a 511. The bottom end is irrelevant.
