• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi There

HUSKY TE 510 2009 MODEL

I have had this bike for about 1000 kms now and it is running fine. I am just concerned that I have NEVER heard the cooling fan come on ???? I hear it does not activate till quite hot but NEVER coming on is concerning ... ( When on tight tracks and uphill sections, you obviously cannot see or check to see if it is on !!!

Anyone comment on this ??? how do i check to see if it working ( and coming on when required properly)

THX FOR NOW

I guess you need to apply power directly to it to get it to run. I have never heard or seen mine run and was told by the dealer that it would hardly ever turn on.

Mine also runs rarely, but it does work. One way you can check whilst riding is by inserting one gloved finger into the fan housing when the bike is hot, if you see lots of glovey debris spraying in a rearwards direction than the fan is functioning (at least this works(ed) for me).

Another method would be to start the bike and let it stand idling for 5-10 minutes, the fan should come on before it starts to overheat. If not best to start with temp sensor or fan relay and power.

I use an infrared temperature gun, I point it at the brass part of the temp sensor that is screwed into the head. When the infrared gun shows 220F, my fan comes on, which is a good number for me.

I too found that I have the same problem as you Ric, I've seen my fair share of hot days and it just seems to never come on, I talked to a local import dealer and he said, like others, there is a thermostat in there and that itll come on when it gets overly hot, but my bike was hot on an occasion. Recommended that I take a multi meter and see if power was there, I even went over the wiring diagram and made sure all the electrical lines were solid, keep in mind I bought my bike with 500 miles on (he used it to get his mail, he had a long driveway). Anyways, I continue to check if it comes on but my husky seems to run flawless, even swamped out new coolant for this year, and she seems to be running great, but I am still on the hunt for that fan to turn on. Hope this didn't confuse you more!

Just turn it on and let it idle. If steam starts geysering out of the overflow bottle and the fan hasn't come on then you know there's a problem.

thx guys for your comments.. still running well so no problem ( just wanted to make sure it worked ********************************************************************************)

thx ric
