  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE 449 Starting issues

C Class
I have a 2011 TE449 with 600 miles. Runs great at all rpms. Emissions have been stripped and the racing map chip is installed. I am running with the stock exhaust. I am now experiencing a situation when I take to the trails and ride hard for a while that if I turn the bike off for a break or stall for what ever reason, I am unable to start the bike back up. Motor turns over but no firing. It seams like no fuel or no spark. If I let the bike stand for a half hour or longer (maybe when it cools), it will start right up as normal. Tried with open throttle and no difference. Could this be ignition related? Does the temp switch shut down the ignition? Fan runs, fluids are good. Doesn't seam excessively hot. Ant help would be greatly appreciated!! Frustrating to be stranded in the woods.

Along those lines, find/borrow a slip-on that fits on there and give that a try....or modify the stock muffler as especially the cat is restrictive.

Where are you located?

I have a stock muffler and as a matter of fact the exhaust took a shot off a tree at one point and the pipe running just behind the muffler itself has a slight kink in it. I would guess that the pipe is restricted by 25% or so. The motor does not boil over or anything. I doesn't seem radically hot. Fan kicks on as expected. I would be willing to replace the muffler. Does anyone have one for sale that fits this bike? I am in NY.

Does this bike have a fuel pump priming time, like when the kill button is set to RUN, does the fuel pump prime for 2 seconds, and then shut off?

Hi, Have you find the Problem yet? I have the same problem ? Where is the cat in the exhaust? same place as the te310 maybe? where muffler bolds to header ?

There is a thread with pictures. I did mine, not real technical but a bit of a pain. After doing it, I find it still
Does not have the punch of the FMF. I will probably hold on to the decatted exhaust, (for a future owner).
But for my money, the FMF is the way to go. I have this problem with mine occasionally, I think it is just to
lean when hot. I can stuff a rag,in the air horn, 2 bumps, pull it away and fires right up. Power commander on the
way. It is tunable for start up. I may be wrong, we will see. Earth X battery helps also. Have done TPS ect...seems
to make no difference. Might just be finicky EFI, again, PCV.
