  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Te 449 Service Questions

So I'm almost ready to give my bike its first service, and have a couple questions about what filters to buy. I went into the dealership, they wanted $26.95 for an oil filter. I figure I should get a handfull of them for that price, but don't know where to get them. I'm also looking to get a couple spare air filters. Is anyone running K+N air filters? I've never used one in a dirt bike.

I have the bike on the race map, and bought a plug for the header. I plan on buying a skid plate from Uptite, a JD tuner, and a Muffler. I'll also probably buy bettter handguards, a mount for my Scotts damper, tires, and hopefully some smaller directionals. If we had decent ice I'd stud the stock tires and hit the lakes, but guess I'll just try to enjoy the "nice" weather.

I spoke with a guy at Factory Connection in NH yesterday. He told me that they had not worked with many of the new Huskys yet, but was sure they could improve what I had. They are going to be working with a couple guys racing the TE's this year. I need to ride the bike a little more before I send the suspension out, I don't know what I want to improve yet.

Check Motosportz in the Marketplace section. He has a pack of filters for the price of your one. I'm using them on my 449.

Under $5 for the filter HF611. Maybe they quoted you a price for a mesh filter like most of these Huskies have, in addition to the traditional paper filter. Hard to believe they would knowingly try and get $27 for $5 filter.

he is right at the bmw close to my house they sell the oil filter almost 30$ can. for a paper filter and oring kit
