  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Having trouble following what you typed...

  • New 2011 TE310
  • the starter stopped working
  • you were told it was a loose battery terminal, but the problem was really a flat (discharged) battery
  • The starter worked when cold but not when warm, but it would kickstart when warm
  • Starter replaced, then 2 months later the starter gears were replaced
  • (some other stuff I cannot make out at the moment)...
  • Husqvarna NA? said you had the bike upside down too much?...
  • And you are an experienced rider
I am simply trying to understand what you typed...

sorry long story
brand new estart wounldnt work after first 30 min or so rang shop they said loose battery connections we tighten them up went for another ride the next weekend did the same thing took the bike back to the shop
they told us nothing wrong with the bike but battery terminals loose witch they wernt as we tighten them
rode the bike next free weekend same problem
returned bike again this time they said the batterys no good so we had to buy a new one next ride happened again starter wont work once the engine was warm
returned bike this time they said starter needs replacing new starter lasted about a month then same problem they then replaced internal starter gears twice more and starter again said there will be no more problem but i wasnt confident as they just keep replacing the same parts that last a month or 2 then break 1 month out of warrenty. starter broke again they said sorry out of warrenty i paid to fix it then then starter casing broke twice after only a 1/2 day ride contactted husky they said in their email its my fault as the bike is left upside and the oil is leaked out or ridden upside down ive had a bike since i was 8 and im now 50 its my first fuel injected bike
you can hear the pump priming but e start wont work but will kick easly before the engine ceased
sorry im writing this on my iphone

i do basic service air filter oil and oil filter change tires
but return the bike to the shop for other service and repairs
only use genuine oil filters and reccomended oil

OK, now I have a much clearer idea what happened - although I've no idea how the 'bike upside down' part fits in. Based on what you typed you certainly do not sound like someone who would ride in a way where that would be an issue... although most of us understand 'stuff' happens to the best of us.

Well since you asked here the long end of it read this thread

http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/te-250-310-xlite-starter-issue-resolved.24533/

My TE310 and I haven't hit it off. When the bike is running it's the best bike I have ever owned! However keeping it running has been a mixed bag. My "local deal" (100 miles away) is a bunch of complete morons. They have replaced just about everything that can be replaced when it comes to starting. The bike has a new battery because the old one was apparently bad. The last time I had the bike back the started was remaining engaged and would back drive the starter when trying to kick it over. Since June my bike has been ridden once for about 20 miles the rest of the time it has sat either at the dealer or in my garage waiting to be taken back to the dealer. Best of luck in getting this issue resolve.
