• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC TE 150 - R8 needle jet

Hi

Has anyone tried out using a R8 needle jet rather than S1 or S4 in their 150. The R8 is stock in the TX 125 (European Model ). R8 is leaner than both S1 and S4. Hearing good reports works well in the 150 with stock needle # 2 42.5 pj and 470 MJ.

Meant to give lots of torque and runs clean - done in sync with v force / re set float and open up air box

most of the 250/300 guys are now dumping the R8 in favor of an S1 or an S4.

Leaner would not translate to more torque to me... generally speaking.

Of course it depends on whether the "problem" was too rich or too lean in that jetting area. But, I agree, on the richer side of good is torquier. That made a lot of difference on my Italian 144.

Ok so tried this setting today - R8 42.5 pilot 470 main stock needle # 2 yellow spring.

Bike is clean off bottom and lugs well. Can ride a gear higher.

Most folk with the S1 are dropping to 30 - 32.5 pilot to offset the richer S1.

I'm getting the torque with the 42.5 pilot.

I also modded the notch on my slide - maybe this helped too

I'm glad to see that you tried this. I don't have my 150 yet, so I've been lurking. Seems lots of riders are on or near the top clip and running really small pilots... to me (again, I don't have mine yet) this means that the slide or the needle jet could be leaner, yet very few seem to be trying that. Let's see that spark plug.

FWIW - RB Designs cuts slides for something cheap like $18 plus shipping.

Yea, this is funny to read as it has been mentioned, us with the 300's have been going to the S-1's and S-4's. For my 300, the best thing that I did was get the RK-Tek head.

The stock head has not always been the best with KTM, so a "proper burn" is a good place to start. Sure makes jetting easier.
