  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TC449 vs WR300

AA Class
I have a 2010 WR300 with race head, Kehein etc that I use for general woods type riding and so far have been very happy with the bike no probs. Recently I have been riding it on Mx and supercross tracks which it isn't really ideal for.

I have been toying with the idea of a TC449 but a few years ago I had the unfortunate experience of owning a G450X which IMHO was the most hideous creation on 2 wheels! The first thing I am concerned about is are the 449s similar to the G450X? and other than the obvious 2 stroke over 4 what riding differences are there between the WR and TC?

IMHO no. I thought the G450X was sucky too but love my TE511. The motor makes way more power, the suspension is far better and has a linkage and the rest of the bike is far more refined. IMHO.

I say go for it and get the 449. The handling is top notch on the track, cts puts power to the ground, good suspension(for me). I like the 300, but on the track the 449 shines brighter IMO. The Beemer is nothing like the TC.

You can modify the TC449 to be within 3lbs of the WR300 inexpensively (depending on expense, you could possibly make the TC lighter than the WR). The 300 puts out about 42HP and the TC449 is 51HP for comparison. I'd pick one up before they become sold out.
