  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone know of the out put of a 2013 TC449? I want to put heated grips on mine for Ice riding. Did a three hour endurance today and it was 4 degrees froze my butt off.

I recently read that the generators put plenty of power out for stuff such as lights. If this is the case then grip heaters shouldnt tax the system. are you running lights at all? I am currently looking into trading my TXC250 for a TC449 and am going to want to add parts that require power. Let me know how you make out.

I just cross checked the alternator/ stator part number are the some between the TC and TE model in 2012 so assuming the 2013 is the same it should work!!!

What kit are you looking into for the heated grips? Local Husky dealer here is big on ice racing and may have to throw this mod out there. I want to try it out next season too

Wow that looks cold but fun - looks like riding slicks on dirt and I know that's fun ;)
Actually the complete opposite. it is the best traction you can get anywhere hands down. Better than dirt and better than the best slicks on pavement. The most predictable slides and saves at full lock that you could never do on pavement.

I purchased the bike master grip kit, they are cheap and look well built. Worth a try!

I'm moving back to the Northern part of Europe in 5-6 month so maybe I should look into that next year!

That's no load. So just figure 13 amps max at 12 volts which is about 156 or so watts, definitely enough for a few lights and heated grips.

Great news! Where did you end up tapping into the system at? On my TXC I used the main fuse block. Does the TC have a convenient spot?

I ran it straight to the battery wit ha fuse ans switch on my bars. That seamed best to me. Yeah Tinken it is 55 and raining here now and tomorrow it will be 10 degrees. Crazy weather messing up my ice!
