    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

TC 610 Clutch cover leaking fix? - What to do?

My clutch cover is leaking. There is no torque specs in the manuals for the clutch cover right?

I have a brand new original gasket in it.
Cross tightened. Just don't know how much torque. I now have a lot of torque on it..

Surfaces were clean and >quite< smooth when I installed it. :-)

Could look like engine has been opened op "a couple" of times.. clutch cover had a scratch or two.. Tried the best I could to make the surface clean and smooth.

I've read some guy on the internet say that if an engine has been screwed too much with or maybe in a bit wrong way, an original gasket may not do the job anymore?

Considering some rtv / liquid gasket now? - Maybe combined with gasket??

Any advice is greatly appreciated :-)
 
Hi Sund,

I use Loctite 515 Master Gasket on all my gaskets nothing has come close to this product for taking up gaps and sealing.

It is anaerobic so it won't set outside the joint, just clean off excess with kerosine on a rag.

If it does get inside the motor it dissolves in oil.

I have reused gaskets, just cleaned the gasket with kerosine on a rag and reapplied the sealer.

You don't need to use much, so a tube lasts a long time.

It says gasket eliminator but I use it on my gaskets for a proper seal.

Hi Sund,

Another thought, make sure you use a 6mm bottoming tap to clean out the bolt holes.

A bolt could be bottoming out on old gasket sealer and not actually clamping the cover down properly.
