  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

That bike seems to get better and better every ride I have 13-14 hours on it Idk if I'm riding it better or what but it seems like less and less flame outs and everything oh and first ride with the shorai battery holy crap is that thing worth the money! Can't wait for next weekend!

Another guy who hasnt heard you cant single-track these bikes. :-)

I love my bike..its big and it goes..i havent had any issues other than the over fill of the oil from the factory..but ive only got about 20 hours on it

You can? Interesting, I was told the 449's were too clumsy, "tanks"...
For the most part all I do is single track huckleberry is more like the width of a quad but the hidden trails are narrow with insane up and downhill single track! I will get my buddy to gopro them for some living proof... just don't mind the orange fender lol... I just remembered he broke his wrist at the china hat race so after he heals

Yea, I was kidding. Ive ridden some of those tighter trails at Huckleberry.
We keep being told by the uninitiated that you cant single track the 449/511, but we do. Or its not really a race bike...but they win races...

I hope you bring the TC to the Funky Chicken in July; Cory Graffunder ran off and hid last year on his 'NOT A RACE BIKE' TXC511.

Sounds like you have all the qualifications needed....its a lot of fun, even if you ride Beginner or Sportsman from the back of the pack on Saturday, then hang around on Sunday. Maybe Cory will come back and you can wave when he goes by....as did much of the field last year. He was lapping a lot of experts before it was over.

You can find me there....I will be the guy holding the sound check meter.

single track on a 511, bring it.

Is the Shorai battery that much lighter that you can notice it? Or is there some other benefit to it?

Definately lighter. Do I feel it while riding? Nope. Main thing I noticed is that it easily starts the bike, versus the stocker, which always seemed to struggle.

I don't notice the weight diff when riding but individually holding each battery there is quite the diff and the diff while starting is crazy I'm pretty sure it reads your mind when your about to start it lol the confidence it gives you on each start is worth the money alone!

Thats cool. Do they last longer before they die than the standard batteries? Like dead can't even charge it anymore
