  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc swingarm bushes

had my swingarm off my 300 for a few months & forget which way the 2 bushes go in. cant find manual(moved house not long ago). can someone enlighten me. smaller longer bush goes nearly the whole way through both bearings & the other either fits around the outside of this one(?) or goes in the other side of the swingarm section(opposite side so they face each other which is what I would think is right)? seems very tight when both on one side(tried to see if it fits & it does nice & tight but would seem odd to me to have both on one side as that means the other side bearing seal is exposed to a certain extent)?!

also is there a small amount of play allowed in bottom shock/linkage bearings? regreased bearings & they were all nicely greased still but theres a small amount of slop when lifting weight off rear wheel. I do remember when bearings were new it was the same & I thought I read somewhere that it was just how it is/supposed to be. might check what the 165 feels like-different chassis/linkage I know. thanks all

Both bushings get inserted through the inner holes of the swingarm. See pic below.
Not sure what to tell you about the slop in the shock/linkage, but it doesn't sound right.

thanks mate. weird that they both go in the same side isn't it? I thought bushes were there to stop load being put on the bearings as in both the inner part of bushes touched inside the bearings while the outer flange took the pressure?! above looks like outer edges of swingarm would wear on the frame as swingarm moves through its stroke/range. guess ill go with what the manual states

Yes they both go in from the inside.
If you put them in from the outside you will bend the swingarm...don't try it.

Every WR linkage I ever saw had a little bit of play in the rear wheel on the stand.

thanks R Little but I didn't mean put both bushes in from outer side of swingarm I was thinking one bush each side(long one from inside, short collar type one from outside)? anyhoo ill jus do as what manual & you bokes have said & put both in from inside:thumbsup:
