  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Suspension settings for 2012 TE310

Hello,
Can anyone help with suspension settings. I find the standard setting far too hard and im wanting the softest possible for both the forks and rear shock.
Just rode all weekend in rocky conditions and it was not enjoyable at all.
The factory supplied manual is hopeless and very vague with no mention for soft, normal and hard settings.

Thanks in advance

OH forgot my weight is 80KG

Get the springs and sag right first. I'm 84kg, and I checked my rear suspension
per Vinduros recommendations:

http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/vinduros-suspension-setup-recommendations.17836/

I had go UP from a 5.2 to a 5.8 spring on the back to get the static versus rider sag to prove out. Played with the clickers only slightly. The changes simply erased all drama at the rear no matter what I give it.

It seems odd that a higher rate spring made the suspension "softer". But, with the original spring, after setting proper rider sag, the spring was compressed to around one half it's total travel at rest by the preload ring! The new higher rate spring allows less preload, and closer to ideal "travel room" to let the spring do it's thing.

I can't wait to do the front. Oddly enough, it looks like I'll be going DOWN on the front spring rates.

I know, my US spec 2011 te310 has a Sachs rear, and your spring rates may be different. You may not need to swap springs, but getting sag right is fundamental. It doesn't cost anything to check.
