  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Surging TE510

Biggziff

Husqvarna
A Class
My 1200GS' rear tire is shot so I had to ride the 09 510 to work today. It's got power-up and a PCV running the stock load. The bike surges pretty much all the time...not huge like a buck, but a gentle surging in all gears and at most RPMs. Running 50 MPH (5300 rpm or so) you can feel it quite pronounced. There is no throttle lag, the bike wheelies in 3-4 gears and otherwise runs as good as I can imagine it should.

Any ideas on this? Bike has 650 miles on it.

Thanks

An engine surge is usually caused by a fuel system management or drivetrain operation failure.

Test Fuel Pressure

Replace Fuel Filter

Check for Vacuum Leaks

Test for Weak Ignition Spark

My 2012 TE511 has < 50 miles and has always surged to the point that just to ride it around the neighborhood is not enjoyable. It will rip when the throttle is twisted but I want it to be tractable. 'Hope the dealer has the aptitude to fix it.

Mine isn't noticeable in the woods and I'd bet many wouldn't notice it on the street either, but it bugs me.

An iridium plug helped this issue on our 07 610. The surge was incredibly annoying on the highway.

Ya...I'm an idiot....it was the tire pressures. 7 PSI in the front and 8 in the rear. I forgot I had lowered them for the woods. 18 and 20 and it rides like a supermoto...
