• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi guys, Anybody have insight as to whether the new Husqvarna situation will include dual sport "plateable" machines like the old "TE" series?
Thx,
Tooly

Not this year. Rumors abound and some think that a 350 model may come plated in 2015 but don't hold your breath. You will have to buy a orange version for 2014 or buy one of the few remaining red Husky 2014 models.

Thx for the input, I'm kinda gettin' the itch to upgrade but want to hold out for some of the new stuff if possible. I hope they will keep us dual sporters in the mix!

That seems to be the intel from dealer insiders. They are also supposedly going to be "different" and step farther away from the current white Huskatoom bikes they slapped Husky stickers on.

Maybe, just maybe somebody in a secret room in Schwarzenegger land actually reads posts here on CH. I know I put in my fair share of bitching about it.

Just keep in mind that most likely a plated bike will not be a dual sport bike but rather a plated race Enduro bike.

Yep, no more Terra/Strada. So us TE fans can hope for something in the future at least. But they well surely come with a premium price, so I've already been looking at other brands for the future. It will probably be at least another year or two before I go bike shopping anyway so it will be worth the wait to be able to add Husky back into my shopping comparison.

Until I heard the DS rumors I had totally written them off and started looking at Beta.

A lot of people from Husky and KTM are switching to Beta, it is probably a good move from what I have seen so far.

The 2014 Beta 450 RS model has a fan, kicker and electric, 6 speed, AND a carb......., really, really calling my name at this point....

10-4 on the Beta. If Husky doesn't produce a good plated bike next year the RS is getting the nod. Some dislike the carb but I look at it as a plus for a DS model.

I was hoping for something similar to the KTM exc or xc/w machines. A super competitive dual sport machine with a true wide ratio tranny. I would like to remain brand loyal if possible but if Husky doesn't offer this type machine I may also have to look elsewhere.

The FE's are just like the exc's but without a plate and emissions crap. So the street legal Husky's due at the end of summer will be what you're looking for. The biggest difference will be that the Husky's will have linkage and EXC's will keep the PDS.

I picked up my new Strada Saturday and asked the salesman about dual sports and he said Husky still has something in the wings.

I told him I had heard that KTM wanted the on/off road bunch and Husky would be off road only.

He said that may not be true!

That was my concern that the dual sport guys like me may be left out. Some of the posts here sound encouraging though. I prolly won't be seriously looking until the fall season. Right now the 449 is still getting it done for me!!

Now if they can bring 'em to market and beat the OMG KTM pricing I'll be a happy boy!.........
