  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Stock Spring Rate for 2012 TE250?

ARH

Husqvarna
AA Class
Anyone know what the stock spring rate for the 2012 TE250 is? I can not seem to find this info anywhere. I found a local guy here to install the springs, but I need to order them. The Race Tech online calculator is recommending .42 for the front and 4.8 for rear. I weigh about 120 lbs. does this sound right? I thought that would be about what the stock springs would be, but the suspension seems really stiff, I get not quite 2" of sag. I'm just wondering how far off the stock springs are.

Did you ever get a reply on this? I am trying to set the suspension up on a 2012 TE250 for my wife who weighs 130lbs and I can't find the stock spring rates to see how much if an they need to be changed. According to RaceTech, it should require a 4.96Kg/mm spring, but unless I know what the stock rate is, I am hesitant to purchase new springs. I contacted RaceTech and they have no listing for the 2012 rates in their database. Any Ideas?

No never found out, but went with the 4.6 for the rear and this really improved the handling, no more "diving". Just a heads up if you also plan to swap out the front springs, I ordered them and they were too long, the 2012 TE250 is the low version in the US and has shorter springs. I ended up keeping the front springs stock, the suspension guy took a bit of oil out but that is all. I ordered the springs from Halls they were super helpful and I was able to return the too long fork springs no problem. I measured and sent photos of the springs to them so they should be able reference this.

How much do you weigh and how tall are you, if you don't mind me asking? So are you happy with the 4.6kg/mm spring in the rear? How much sag are you running and what is the seat height once you were done with it?

120 lbs. 5'9" I can get both feet on the ground, not quite flat, but comfortably. I am MUCH happier with the softer spring in back, the bike originally felt down in front. I had trouble keeping the front on top of the sand. Switching to the 4.6 makes the bike ride level and I can get the front end up. I believe the sag is at 4", we went by the recommended setting in the manual. The seat height is just shy of 35" at lowest point without any weight on it. I do slower trail/enduro type riding, no motocross or big jumps. You would need to get a stiffer spring for that sort of riding.
