  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Stock chain brand TE449??

I have had an awesome run (110 hrs, 3400km) out of the original stock SuperSprox sprockets & the chain on my '11 TE.

I'd like to replace it all with the same brands as I know they'll last well. The sprockets I can get.

Can't see any markings on the chain links, any ideas??

Ironman sprockets will actually last longer than the SuperSprox and are almost as light as aluminum. Regina chains are excellent. We have the stock 449 chains too, I'm sure we can work a deal for you.

Thanks, I'll talk when i'm ready to change. Won't be long now, just starting to wear the backs of the teeth.
Freight is the killer from the states for us on the cheaper items :( Seems to have gone up a fait amount lately from the things I've priced lately.

I have been very satisfied to with the stock chain and would buy again. I have a ironman on my WR and it has
outlasted the chain and front sprockets. Just have to decide on $109 for the ironman or $30 for the on sale
sprocket the is good but does not last nearly as long. I would be curious how much the stock chain cost vs
the regina.

I have had REALLY good luck out of Pro-X aluminum rears - and I am not exactly easy on my bikes. My chain maintenance is limited to WD-40 pre and post ride and that is it. For chains, I run either the Rocky Mountain O or X house chain and cannot tell a difference in the two nor vs. any name brand chain. I typically get a solid year out of a set with little to no adjustment. Each winter I do a pretty thorough tear down and toss the drive and give the chain to a kid down the street.

I cannot swear by it, but I am pretty sure that Pro-X does make a 449/511 rear.

So we don't know the original??
The above is all good info for sure, but I like to use things the have proven themselves on my stuff before.
You've gotta admit 110 hrs so far is a good run. I don't want less from a replacement......

I do recall a mag article thgast said DID...but that was on a 2011. My MY2013 looks like a DID, but I have no idea for sure. That being said, Husky may have changed chain suppliers year to year or even intrayear.

To be honest, 100 hours really isn't anything spectacular. I have been getting that out of no name house chains and never thought much of it.

Thanks for that, mine is a 2011 too....

100 hrs here in the mud, dust & sand isn't a bad run.
I'm probably a bit paranoid I guess after buying a CRF450 cheap with broken cases to do up, it died from a broken chain. All good now though & I got a good bike :)
