• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Steering head bearings change FYI

robertaccio

Husqvarna
Pro Class
just giving a maint schedule check. I am changing my bearings as we speak, they were worn and the races had some uneven patches as well as some water intrusion corrosion (mostly from washing I would assume) because we mostly ride dry conditions here.
I had a set of the moose racing kit, but realizing that they are made in China plus the seal washers were incorrect ID Im going OEM. @ 40 bucks total (good price). @ 1.5 years @105 hours , with alot of hard use. I consider it normal wear cycle and am in the middle of a TLC-refurb of my 08 to try to keep up with the 2010 jonses and to make er feel like new again

it would be awsome if you could get the bearing and seal numbers.

that way we could go to a local bearing dealer and just pick things up from them. thats how ive been getting most of my bearings since i have to order from out of state i get charged for shipping if i go through halls. ive also done the same for head gasket o-rings on my 144 through a local hydralic shop.

I tried doing that at my local bearing distributor and they said that he couldn't match them in the US eventhough they are a SKF bearing. He said he could get them from Europe but I never heard back from them. It would be interesting to see if anyone else has any better luck. I did this mainly b/c I could have ordered them from work saving me some $$.

Changed out the Steering Head Bearings in my '05 TE250 12 months ago.

According to the parts manual you require 2 bearings.

ID: 29mm
OD: 48mm
T: 17.4mm

Note: These are tapered roller bearings with an integrated seal. If your part manual gives the same specification listed above you can use the following Timken Bearing & Cup

Tapered Roller Bearing: Timken L44600LA 902B6
Cup: Timken L44610

NOTE: This is quite a common bearing used in Harley Davidsons & John Deere Tractors... So should be readily available at your local industrial bearing supplier
