  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

HI to everybody!!

i'm an italian boy! from pesaro (where are built the TM!!!:notworthy:)

i have an Husky wr 250 2004... i have a little question for us: what is the correct squish???:banghead: i'm searching more power when the exhaust valve open... now the bike it's too "smouth":excuseme:

thanks!!!

bye

Manuel!

Hello and welcome.

No need to get too excited, I'm sure others will be along shortly to give input on your issue (we are pretty laid back here).

I'm not sure what Husky says it should be, but using old tuning guide lines, it's .936mm. That's based off a 72mm stroke.

Ciao Manuel
I like 1mm
Maybe 1.1-1.2 with pump gas
Are you cutting the head, or changing base gaskets?
I had to flatten out the squish band on my 300 to get a good squish.
You will have more power, valve open and valve closed.

thanks to everybody!!

unfortunatley i speak an orrible english:banghead::banghead::banghead:

i have changed the base gaskets with the thinest (maybe 0,3mm) in husqvarna's catalog.... but the squish is still higher 1,5mm ....

but i want to decrease on 1.2 -1.3mm...:notworthy:

i have to turning the head?

sorry for my "maccaroni english":busted:

I like to have the squish on my 2 strokes set at .045" (between 1.1 and 1.2mm) and then have the dome machined back to stock specs as to not raise the compression level.

.045" isn't too tight and will allow for some bearing slop. It's a nice compromise between performance, longevity and able to use pump fuel. Unless you plan on rebuilding your crank every 50hrs then I wouldn't go much tighter.

This is just my opinion of course.

You'll either have to turn the head or the cylinder base to get it lower. If you want the bottom end power from the bike, then turn the cylinder base.
