• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Sparky or DB killer?

Just got my full LV Ti system, any thoughts on which is better, fire season long gone and no one to check anyway! I was wondering about performance issues and JB settings if they were different.

I have the longer db killers in my dual slipons. They didn't come with it; I ordered them from LV. They are significantly quieter, and I can't tell one iota of difference in the power profile. The JD tuner settings seem to work the same either way.

A while back, I had read an extensive blog post by a guy that swapped the db killers in and out of an LV muffler, on a dyno. It was a different bike (I forget what model), but from the pics, the basic can and insert design were the same as our bike's. He got zero difference with or without the inserts.

The only thing holding me back from a LV setup was noise... Any experience with the DB killer noise wise vs without?

Mekanik- I'd love to know what you find after the install...

The pipes are much nicer with the db killers (which also have spark screens, BTW...part number is 303740603R). The bike is quieter and the sound is smoother and less harsh. I really like these mufflers with these inserts.

Not cheap...retail is $25 each, but they'll give you 20% off if you beg. :D

I have the full TI LV exhaust with the db killer and like it. Very quiet but still has a little bark if you hammer it. Much quieter then the FMF I had.

just installed the LV single, I'm trying the db killer for now, I like the sound, as mentioned above it is marginally louder than stock untill you grab the throttle, I never-seized the db killer well so I can try the spark arrester later.
